A decision by the makers of Big Brother (Australia) to not tell a contestant her father has died has been condemned as inhumane, unethical and psychologically damaging.

Contestant Emma's father Raymond Cornell died last week and his funeral was held on Monday in Adelaide, but the 24-year-old is still unaware of his death.

This really makes me sick.. I think she has a right to know.. If this is how media and money influence the world, than i think its a suckie place to live... What are your thoughts on this?

He was suffering from Cancer.. I guess she know that there was a possibility before entering. But to me there is no justification as to why her family wouldn’t want to tell her.. It’s her father for crying out loud..!!!!

EDIT....yes that's wrong....its her fathers wish that she not be told not hers....
Also when she gets out, her grief will be raw and her other family members will be further along the grief time line and she will be alone with the rawness of her grief...
I have lost a parent and i am speaking from experience here.....its hard enough in a normal life, but this just makes it 100 times worse!

The contestants are asked to inform the producers of three things that they would definently want to know on the outside world should something bad happen to someone. loss of job, house burning down, and emma obviously didnt wish to be informed of her fathers passing , she knew he was in a hospice.. had she requested to be informed bb would of told her. other than that the name of the game is to have no knoledge of tradgedy, was , politics, natureal disasters,

Her brother said that her father had specifically requested that she not be told until she came out. So I guess BB has to respect his wishes.

I just hope they don't tell her in front of cameras. that would be a little inhumane.

That is why I don't watch TV anymore.

It morally and ethically wrong, but to the producers, nothing is more important than their show.

Absolutely indefensible.

Don't watch their show anymore and write their sponsors, boycotting their product

in the uk contestants are asked before they go in if they want to be told anything like this whilst in there ,was her dad dying or sick? or did he just drop dead,i still think its awful but maybe that is what she wanted,If my father was dying of cancer i dont think i would be going away for that long anyway, they had been estranged for 6years

That is crazy. This person will forever remember she never go to go to her father's funeral. I think that is awful that they never told her.
