There is a group at MIT that has designed a prototype of the flying car its call the Terrafugia. Here is the website: http://www.terrafugia.com/
I have heard them speak about this project and it is really neat!

I doubt it. There have been flying cars and even convertibles - take off the wings and drive - but the structural and safety needs of cars and aircraft are completely different. Since the Aerocar was made aircraft and cars have become safer in entirely different ways. It makes more sense now, and will make even more sense in the future, to drive to where an aircraft is and fly to where a car is. Flying cars, flying bicycles... there are reasons they are not all the rage.

flying cars would waste too much gas, it would take years to actually organize the streets to make its "flying car" friendly, it would be a bad idea because there would be way more accidents. I dont think that people actually would benefit with a flying car.
