Yes you can catch parasites from your dog. They are transmitted through fecal matter. You can pick them up from walking outside barefoot, your dog licking your face. ( because dogs clean their anal area with their mouth)
80% of child blindness is caused from roundworm infection.
You should have your dog on a heartworm preventive so that it is not a concern.
Heartworm preventives, depending on the type take care of intestinal parasites such as hookworms( that you can catch) roundworms ( that you can catch) and whipworms ( that can live iny our soil for up to 10 years and re-infect your dog is not treated)

It is possible, but basic hygiene should protect you. If your dog is licking your face then yes, this would be a way for worms to be transmitted!
Your dog should be wormed regularly. It's not a good idea to wait for your dog to get worms before you take action. Prevention really is better than cure! Signs of worms (depending on which species of worm) can include diarrhoea, pot belly and excessive eating for roundworms and tapeworms, sometimes wiping bottom on the floor or licking a lot, coughing/vomiting for lung or heartworms. All these can be transmitted to humans. Dog's lick their butts so if he has worms and is licking your face, this is how you get worms!

YES, you can!!!!!!
Some worms, like roundworm and hookworm, are transmissible from pets to people. All pets should be checked by a veterinarian at least once a year and given worm medication as directed to eliminate this potential health hazard.

Yes you CAN get worms but anyway, he/she is part of the family, you cant leave them out.

Yes you should go to the vet and take a stool sample with you ASAP. Also part of routine care is to take in a stool sample once or twice a year and also have a heartworm test done once a year, the vet will draw blood. There is alot more to the health of a dog than eating, pooping and peeing.

Not likely worms are usually passed on from contact with the poo from an infested dog.~~

You certainly CAN get tape worms -- but I'm not sure you can get them from your dog. Ask your vet, she will be able to tell you for sure.
