Every time my dog, a dachshund, is approached by any other dogs, he growls, barks, and chases them off. Even if the other dogs are friendly and just want to play, mine gets so angry and almost tries to bite them!!! Please help with any suggestions as how to successfully break him out of this habit!!!

I would say call a trainer. It probably wouldn't help to take a multi-dog training class, because he probably needs to learn a bit better behavior before he can be calm enough to learn in a class situation.

Consult your vet, she might be able to recommend a trainer or animal behaviorist.

Good luck.
