perhaps my idea of tolerance would be helpful....and 2ndch: u dont have to accept others gods, just allow them to be who and what they are.:)

Tolerance
The most lovable quality any human being can possess is tolerance. …. It is the vision that enables one to see things from another’s viewpoint…. It is the generosity that concedes to others the right to their own opinions and their own peculiarities….. It is the bigness that enables us to let people be happy in their own way instead of our way.

AMEN! GODDESS BLESS US EVERYONE!

I'm a pagan who believes in the immanent presence of the Earth under my feet, and since I relate to Her as female, I think of Her that way, but never to the exclusion of inclusive masculine spirituality someone else may find. I am interested in other spiritual paths to see how much we can find in common and to come together to protect our one and only world. Sometimes this does work, despite the vitriol and harsh condemnations we read here with such distressing regularity.

My High Priestess friend once told me that everyone is right about their spiritual beliefs, even those who reject others' beliefs as totally wrong, because what they believe is right because it is right FOR THEM. This is not so difficult to look at and understand, and I take a step toward religious tolerance when I say that Christianity is right for those for whom it is right, and if it is part of their belief system to condemn mine, so be it, it doesn't change mine, and mine doesn't change theirs. It is also heartening when I read here that some Christians seek to find the good in Wicca and paganism, and I say if you guys can try, so can I and so can we all.

Brightest Blessings for a truly great question!

I believe in all religions. They all exist on our planet. All religions on our planet influence culture in some way or another. All religions are made up of people who have their own personal beliefs about what their religion is about, and any given persons beliefs can only exist relative to everyone elses beliefs. So in that sense all religions are dependent upon each other so that each of them can have an independent existence.

Ultimate reality can be viewed from a near infinite number of viewpoints, and every person who contemplates their creator has a different point of view. This little fact gives a small glimpse into the vastness of the creative power of the divine imagination. All religions and all peoples viewpoints are creations of the divine expressing itself in a nearly infinite number of ways.

In the end, at the moment of Death, everything must go. Our bodies, our lives, and everything we ever believed in. All of it must go since it was never ours in the first place. When you finally come to terms with the force that gave you your life and will one day take it away from you, you realize that the life you think you have could be taken back at any moment whatsoever, even now. It's as if every breath you take has been lent to you, and sooner or later you will have to pay every last one of them back.

You are an ego, nothing more. God, Goddess, the Universe, or whatever you want to call this immense power, is the true self. Your body will die, your beliefs will die, even the belief that you somehow have an independent existence seperate from everything else will die. But there is that which will always remain. The Supreme Being.

Do you mean:

1. .
Honesty - Not just myself but in every way instead of lies or excuses - say - getting to work late telling the truth.
2. .
Purity - To be without motive other than to be helpful. This is not looking at everything as what I will get from it but just to make the world a better place.
3. .
Unselfishness - Much like the earth was the center of the universe a few hundred years ago I noticed that I was the center of my universe - I have noticed this in others too having been there and done that - God is now center not myself - Giving and not getting - thinking of others not self - doing for others not only self.
4. .
Love - Being kind, gentle, caring, thoughtful, strong, and giving.

I have been interested in reading the answers here...

I think that tolerance is needed but sometimes it goes beyond to patronizing. I have less religious tolerance in my life that I do in others. I don't want to accept others Gods and other beliefs in my life. Does that make me judgmental? I hope not. While I disagree and am sadden at the choices a lot of people make, I don't want to bash them or judge them with my yardstick...I am not sure which is worse, someone that is wishy washy in their faith, or someone that is blatantly cruel to another about theirs...

My spiritual beliefs? That God sent his son for my sin, that His word is spirit breathed and that his ways are right and just and true. That I can't do anything to earn it, but I am required to grow in it.

Venom seems to be par for the course around here.. There is little to no tolerance...

I am sure someone will thumbs down this post because inevidibly someone always does when I say....

I am Atheist.. I do not beleive in a deity of any sort.. I beleive in evolution..

Now someone will say not beleiving in God, creation, yadda yadda yadda means I am not moral, yadda yadda yadda...

Tolerance is a great dream but unfortunately tis is the internet, people are able to hide behind a computer screen and say and do that which they are unable to say and do in real life... For most that means acting the fool..

Ok there was a bit of venom and a bit of sarcasm in that post but hey I tried...

P.S. [][][] r u randy? [][][] ..... No I'm Horny, randy's cousin... Can I give randy a message?

Sure. I have no religious or spiritual beliefs. I think everything is random and our lives are actually quite fragile.

Some might see this as a very empty and frightening life, but I find it very comfortable. It explains why good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people.

I have found all religion to be an issue of control, so I try and stay away from all organized aspects of it, but at the same time, I am tolerant of others beliefs (when not being forced on others).
I realize that my philosophy is a tough one to get behind, and don't expect others to follow me on that.

Now having no religion, I still have morals and ethics. I basically treat others as I wish to be treated.

I believe in concepts such as honor, integrity and personal responsibility. I generally view the human race as animals, bowing to their basest desires, but occasionally, you see some rise above it.

That's what works for me, and thanks for asking.

I believe that there is one God, the Supreme Being who created the space, time, and the universe itself.

I believe that every single person is corrupted with sin, and they must first atone for sins, and then seek righteousness, if they expect to go to heaven.

I believe that only the sacrifice of Christ can atone for sins, and that the Holy Spirit leads us to all righteousness.

So long as you profess to be under Christ, I consider you my brethren unless you give me a very obvious reason not to.

I believe the New Testament is the most important document pointing us toward salvation, and I have found it is best read in its original Greek language, and that it is solidly based in historical validity.

I do not believe the Bible is literally true word-for-word, but I do believe it is literally true in context.

I believe in evolution but only within a species. I do not believe that monkeys became people. Why would they suddenly stop evolving into people? And why would there not be groups of apes in various stages of evolution? It just doesn't add up. I believe in God. But I believe that your God, whatever name you choose to call him, is the same God as mine. I believe that religion of all kinds (Catholic, Protestant, etc.) is man-made and their rules and doctrines are man-made based on a man's interpretation of the Bible. Therefore, I believe that how you worship God is between you and God. While I may believe that some things are just wrong, I do not believe I am on this earth to pass judgement on anyone. Nor do I believe it is my place to speak for God and tell others they are damned for their life choices. I believe that there are animals in heaven because no one loves more unconditionally than my dogs.

im a christian as well and believe that God is the ruler of all things in existance and beyond. I believe His Son is my Lord and Savior. I beleve the Holy Ghost is what keeps me safe and peaceful. It teaches me to be tolerant of others because it is not my place to judge only God's. I like people for people not their religion.

Tolerance would take the entertainment value out of the religions! Tolerance may be a blessing for everyone's spiritual beliefs, but the death warrant for the entertainment of cynical old bastards like me!
