how would one go about doing that? have you ever tried thinking of others first? would that help us out of our tunnel vision?

i dont know about freeing us of our mental conditioning, but selfishness and selfcenteredness seem to be the root of alot of problems.
The only way to be free of self is to help another without regards to any other pay-off then just knowing that you are doing the right thing. Not expecting anything in return.
And with the help of God, as you understand God to be.

Funny you say that! I mean in a good way.

Even if I have a pounding headache, once I engage in helping others the attention goes to them not on my body.

Already have for the most part. if you mean in a religious sense.

but most of our actions and opinions come from reactions to the actions of others. so everyone is conditioned a little.

We need to worry about only ourselves, but in a spiritual way. That alone will bring immense happiness to us.

How can you do something for others, when you yourself are starving?

A saint only can work for others, as he himself has got satiated with divine love.

I Have heard that if one wants to be a healer they should heal themselves. Be still, let all untruth drop off, until only truth remains. It is not far away, it is just covered over by conditioning. ~ : )

It is a most liberating experience when it happens, although all to brief in my experience.
What might help us all acheive this state of being permanently? I think it would require a spiritual 'quantum leap' of kinds.

If you are referring to my being enrobed in the warmth and peace of the truth of our Lord, No thanks! Besides, it's not a mental conditioning, it's a SPIRITUAL one.

Religions dont practially tell us to do that. We have to be humans to understand that and take care of others prior to us.
