You can study law with out studying religion and you can study religion without studying the law.

The law of man is of big difference with the law of God because the law of
god deals with spiritual matters while the law of man deals with the law enacted by your government.

These two subjects tie in to each other because many laws are designed to protect religious freedoms.

For example, law enforcement officials must know the laws pertaining to religion to know if an actual crime is being committed. (A person killing a chicken for fun can be subject to arrest and charges being filed. Another person killing a chicken as part of a religious ritual would most likely be viewed differently).

Additionally, religious groups planning events or marches should know the laws of the venue they will be in to avoid breaking any laws and having their demonstration shut down.

Because it is the spirit of lawlessness/sin that is working threw humanity to destroy and cause havoc. To understand the fruits of the spirit and the impact they have on everything.Ten laws of God wasn't enough to bring peace and right living,so God sent his son that he might fulfill the law. By this I mean the Holy spirit is sent into man to convict him of wrong doing all wrong, This is were repentance plays the big role in realizing are lawless nature, repenting and walking in justice.God is the ultimate judge of all even if it is through his disciples or who he chooses to take the seat.

you can study the law to learn how to either defend or prosecute people according to the laws of man...

you can study religion to learn how to treat people with mercy forgiveness and compassion according to the laws of God...

its the rare individual(lawyer) that can combine the two

One basis of civic laws are moral laws.

The study of religion is important so there is consistency between civic laws and moral laws.
