I am 5 10 and weigh 168 pounds. I started my weight loss program back in december and have lost 20 pounds already, but i am at a point now to where i cant loss weight. I quit drinking any drinks with sugar, so that means only water and a little milk in the morning for me. I also cut back on fast food and sweets. I began become more active outside and i believe that with the cutting back on sugars has got me to the point i am at now, but i still look fat. I mean i cant really tell i have lost 20 pounds. I want to know how to tone up, or if i continue my regular activity and maybe run 5-7 miles a week, will that be enough to get my muscles showing. I know resistance training is the best bet, but i live in a small town so no health club for me. Need help its almost summer and i have been very commited to this change, i mean the numbers dont lie i have lost 20 pounds. I need something extra to get me over the hump ????

My heart goes out to you ..I know exactly how you feel I know how tough it is to loose even a single pound let alone 20 like you did !!!!
I must congratulate you ..for I consider you a sucess story even though presently you seem to have hit a plateau ...
I feel it might really help if you changed your routine regularly ( ideally evry 4-5 wks our work out schedule shud change )
It helps to keep the challenge alive and a new set of muscles come into play and above all the body that might have become "comfortable "doing a set type of task each day ..gets wake up call from time to time ...
I 'm sending you some links ..I 've found them very helpful for providing animated exercises and improving my motivation..
Don't feel negetively about the place you stay in .It might sound wierd but our state of mind affects your physical state all the time ..by changing your eating patterns and altering the reasons you need /crave certain foods..
Despite the place-size ..you have to keep your self motivated and creative ..use bricks /sand filled in empty water bottles for free weigvhts ..jump rope or do jumping jacks for more intensity if there's no treadmill...push the wall if you need resistance!!!
Jus ' don't stop now ..consistancy and perservearance often have more significance than the euphoria of having lost a certain abount of weight..
I wish you all the best ..

Looks like you are at your ideal weight already. You may be still having good results but just can't see them on a scale. You should have a log that not only includes your weight loss but also measurements of your waist, stomach, thighs, and arms. Remember that lean muscle weighs more than fat.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
