Seems like most things the bible calls "sin" actually have two parties - a sinner and the aggrieved. Homosexuality is the exception...or are there others sins that hurt nobody? Note, I'll stipulate that if you harm yourself with things like drug addictions you are both the sinner and the aggrieved (i.e. it's not victimless). Likewise I'll accept, for the sake of argument, that one can harm an all-powerful God but there's still no connection between homosexual acts and harm to God. Is there? I mean, I can see where a couple millenia back people thought it was important to go forth and populate every nook and cranny but I don't see where that objective really had any schedule attached to it (and man's been doing a bang up job of it regardless of a seemingly constant mix of homosexuals and heterosexuals).

Just to clarify...I actually think homosexuality is not a sin, I'm really just trying to pinpoint why it is that it rankles me when people call it a sin.

trinity (and one other guy) I'm really not trying to justify anything. I'm just saying this (that) is the one thing everybody seems happy to put in the 'sin' pile without asking what it actually does. And to the people with the graphic depictions of male homosexual acts - those acts are possible in a hetero setting as well and I...don't hear anybody complaining about all _that_ sinning. Likewise STDs are not specific to one orientation last I checked.

hmmm, well, I'm seeing no counterexamples and some claims that it's not victimless. But...no, just because I disobey the alleged commands of an invisible, insubstantial, hypothetical spirit doesn't mean there would be actual harm in disobedience. Imagine Eve eating from the tree of knowledge of good or evil. God was NOT harmed by that act, he just (allegedly) decided to punish man for disobedience. He overreacted to a slight by reasoning, rational people.

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters or adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor theives nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
---1 Cor 6:9-10
it is clearly written in the Bible that homosexuality is a sin, that alone is enough answer...
it is detestable to the Lord...the argument is that people consider homosexuality is a natural inclination, in-born thing. How can it be sinful? well kleptomania (uncontrollable impulse to steal) is also an in-born thing. but if that person had gone thru consistent counseling and given serious warning bout the consequences of his action the he will eventually be corrected.
if society considers kleptomania as unacceptable, then why should homosexuality be tolerated? again, people may say that the former is a crime and homosexuality doesnt harm. But it is a sin against God's law. He deemed it as abnormal and unnatural. now im not saying that gays will go straight to hell, no! i dont have the right to condemn them...it all depends on that person's decisions..if we try our best not to give in to the lusts of our flesh, but rather walk in the Spirit...then God would help us get thru it..He knows how difficult it is to live in this world full of tribulation and temptation..that's why He wants us to hold on to Him..and to seek Him..coz He is the only one who can satisfy our souls...God bless!
"If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me." ---Luke 9:23

Your question is misguided and seems to be looking for an excuse for homosexual behavior... a behavior that is NOT normal for humans, but is instead abnormal. You "assume" homosexuality does not hurt anyone, but it can potentially hurt both the homosexual and his or her lover via STD's. It is also neither normal nor intended for a man to put his penis into another man's butthole to put it bluntly (think about it, and perhaps you will realize the "uncleanness" of such an act).
You are correct when you say it does not harm God. However, in the Bible it says homosexuality is an ABOMINATION to God, so God certainly does not condone such behavior. Another hint: God did not make Adam and Edward, but made Adam and Eve.
In addition, the "constant mix of homosexuals and heterosexuals" you speak of is GREATLY outnumbered by the heterosexual group (probably something like 1,000 heterosexuals to every 1 homosexual, if not greater).

Middle: All sin is against God - whether it be stealing, lieing, failure to act and do the right and proper thing for our neighbors, or even, coveting. Sin, once it has run its course results in unhappiness and sometimes, death. Sin is the opposite of love and God is love. God wants all humans to practice love and its deeds to make this world a far better place to live in. God loves people - all people - homosexuals included. The victimization is that of the human race, at the hands of Satan - the devil.

No it is not. It happens to so many children innocently even. There may be those that had chosen it before they was born because the will of God, but they will be lead out of the sin if they follow the will of God. The greatest gift this could achieve is help lead others out of this sin as well.

The word "sin" means to miss the mark. Here's what Jesus said about God's plan for human sexuality.
Matthew 19:4 He answered, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh'? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."
When two human beings, created in the image of God, who are of the same sex have sex with one another they are "missing the mark" of God's design for how their bodies should be used sexually.
The Bible also calls fornication a sin. God's plan is for a man and a woman to be joined in holy matrimony.

The first and most important command that Jesus asked us to follow was to love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind.
God made mankind to procreate. It was the first command that he gave mankind. He designed us specifically for that task.
Although we are to test the spirits when we are unsure as to whether someone is a follower, we are never instructed to test God's law or encouraged to disregard it.
Yes there are victims of sexual immorality and it is not relegated to homosexuality alone. Sexual immorality creates a self-serving, disobedient, depraved mindset that affects many others.
God made rules that he does not break. He is faithful to himself. He does not look upon sin. Sin separates us from God. Separation from God is painful to humans and creates an emptiness that cannot be filled.
God does not want us to suffer, but he had to give us a choice, since our purpose on earth was to love him, love one-another, and be loved by God. God can grieve.
Society suffers from sin, and God wants us to do good and be virtuous.

Is marriage a victimless crime? (It's a crime that people require a ritual and a scrap of paper to "seal the bond")
Moral badness is a sin, civil badness is not.
Morality is the product of a group deciding how everyone should act, think and be. Anything/anyone that falls outside the parameters set by the group is a sinner and therefor, subject to persecution.

Stop trying to justify homosexuality in the bible. The bible clearly states that it is an abomination okay? Now, I don't believe in the bible so I'm okay with it. But obviously God isn't. You attempting to rationalize the very blatant comments made by the bible is pointless. You can't question the relevance of direct statements by the bible if you believe in it. Drug use is not considered a sin in the bible, in fact alcohol is regularly spoken about in it. Obsessive use isn't however acceptable.

According to the bible , it is a sin to have been born to be homosexual, Any religion who says that it is against the law of God is a false religion because God is not favoring anybody. in the society either gay, lesbian or whatsoever, provided they know how to love God and respect God. On religion and on spiritual matters, everybody is equal.

1 Corinthians 6: 9 -11
What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, 10Â nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.
It is a sin because Jehovah God instructs us against it. If you cannot understand that, get help through couseling from those with accurate knowledge. DO NOT LOOK TO THE WORLD FOR ANSWERS. That is a death trap. It is enough to stop something when our heavenly Father advises us that it is wrong; think of how your earthly father would instruct you against something that is wrong. Now consider the Grand Creator and heavenly Father of all creation instructing you against something detestible for you and that is a grave sin. NOW YOU GET IT.
James 1: 12 - 15
Happy is the man that keeps on enduring trial, because on becoming approved he will receive the crown of life, which Jehovah promised to those who continue loving him. When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. Â But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. 15Â Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death.
2 Peter 3: 8 - 10
"However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance. Yet Jehovah’s day will come as a thief..."
