Sounds like you pulled a muscle. Try taking Advil and do alternating hot and cold packs in 10 min increments. It should do the trick.

we can't diagnose your problem on this forum. They often need x-rays, mri's, medical people and all that. I have had physical therapy on my neck 2 times, and the exercises are very specialized and someone with proper training has to show you what to do. I know you want a way around that, but it isn't best for anyone to tell you. I'm sure you can find out how yourself, but it's still not best. It's not something you can know how to do yourself. You need medical help. Use ice though and get the swelling down.

A lot of things can be wrong. You could have strained a muscle or worse. Try putting ice on it 3-4 times a day for 20 mins. If it doesn't even feel a bit better, I would suggest you go to your M.D. .

I have neck problems too. I go to an Acupressure person. This kind of massage is not relaxing, and it even hurts, but the next day my neck feels great. Now .....this is NOT acupuncture, thats with needles, this is acupressure. They hit the pressure points and it works wonders. Try it.

you certainly should see your doctor. whiplash can also be caused by sports injury, not just car accidents.
