I can't find a reservoir specifically for automatic transmission fluid. Is it combined with the power stearing or is it possible that my transmission doesn't need the fluid checked?

From the manual:
The automatic transmission dipstick has a yellow handle.
Before checking the fluid level:

* The car must be parked on level ground
* The engine must be idling
* The gear selector must be in Neutral or Park
* The parking brake must be set

Top up if necessary by pouring fluid into the dipstick tube. The level will normally be checked and topped up at the regular service intervals.

I recommend replacing the fluid every 30,000 miles.

I had a car that when cold would not go into gear for about 5 minutes I put brake fluid in the transmission only a small amount let it idle for 20 minutes and drove the car like that with NO issues at all for the next three years. Yes it fixed the problem and did not harm the tranny. Just goes to show just because people think you are an idiot for doing something does not make them right.

S80 is a little different. Actually its a pain. I would change the fluid every 50k or so. Here is a guide that covers the basics.

the dipstick is located left front low down most models it is hidden by the cold air intake duct going to the air filter box
