because you have to deal with strangers everyday to be able to function. parents tell there kids not to talk to strangers because they need to give them clear boundaries. an adult knows better than to get in a car with someone who has candy for them.

b/c as an adult we can realize and decide between good and bad character. Children are taught to trust the authority of adults; therefore, they are intimidated by adults and will do what they say, go with them, etc. This leaves children venerable to being exploited.

As an adult you have more power to have control of the situation and understand if someone is there to harm you or hurt you.

Children are too innocent and naive to realize that someone might be out to harm them, rather than help them. Therefore, parent's tell their children not to talk to strangers in order to protect them. Plus, an adult that is approaching a child, should be able to go through the adult/parent in charge, first.

Because as children it would be easier for a stranger to trick a child with, say, the whole "I lost my puppy, will you help me find it?" thing. If you talk to a stranger as a child they could trick you into getting into thier car, go home with them, etc. As an adult we are no longer, for the most part, naive. We can defend ourselves better and we have much better judgement. Well thats what I think anyway.

Cause as an adult you know how much infomation is to much, and you know how to protect yourself. As a child you might bable about your entire life to a stranger. Basically you talk to strangers now because you know how to do and be safe at the same time.

When we were kids, we were too vulnerable, too trusting and don't know any better.
Now we are adults, we know how to defend ourselves.
