Undercover officers DO NOT have to reveal they are the police.
There was a Supreme Court decision on that over 20 years ago.
So undercover cops who work narco, and vice can lie about that all they want.

Cops don't have to say anything about being cops. "I'm not a cop, are you?" Is the answer you'll get most.
You kids are funny. "Cops have to admit they're cops, its the law." Hahahahahaha.

I believe they must identify themselves UNLESS they are undercover.
This is why a lot of undercover cops cannot be contacted. There are a few cops out here that refuse to tell you their name, and are constantly dressed in plain-clothes.

We don't.
The Supreme Court said it was ok for an undercover officer to lie about being a police officer.
There is some myth among criminals that if they ask you if you are the police and you say "No" then you can't arrest them.
Wrong-o.

Cops are just like that. They are supposed to tell you that they are a police officer. They are also supposed to inform you are what you are being charged with when you are being arrested and a lot of times they don't. If you are pulled over by a police officer in an unmarked car, you have the right to ask them for ID, this is because of predators who pose as police to lure their victims in.
