I personally think that Kaspersky is the very best anti-virus software that you can get. I have been using it trouble-free for years.
Nothing free will compare.

I've had Kaspersky, it's ok, just ok. And for god's sake, don't get Norton or any Symatech.
I've tried Avast (free) and it's pretty good.
McAffee was too complicated, and they're constantly bugging you to buy more of their stuff.
Many people swear by AVG. It's ok. But you've got to watch that it's updated, doing a complete job.

So after many years, I've finally hit the best....I've had it for over a year now.
IT IS Zone Alarm. www.zonealarm.com

THey give an antivirus, firewall, spyware checker.
ALL THREE are musts in today's internet world. Make sure you shutoff your Windows firewall, and it's antivirus. They're not too good, and you only want 1 antivirus, and only 1 firewall running.

Don't waste your money buying anything.

AOL free antivirus is powered by Kaspersky.

In addition to a firewall you must have full time (active) virus protection and full time spyware protection.

All the following programs are free.
---------------------------------------------
Full Time (Active) Virus Protection
If you do not have active virus protection, install only one. All are excellent. Start with AVG. If you don't like it uninstall and try another one.

AVG Antivirus 7.5 Free Edition

Install the following five programs and run weekly or at least monthly. You need all five. They will greatly increase your protection. They are not a substitute for full time spyware and virus protection.
