I try to write every day, but sometimes teaching has to take priority. I am inspired by things I overhear, and especially things that I mishear. I admire anyone who shows real craft in writing. I'm a big fan of Don MacClean, Leonard Cohen, Warren Zevon, James Taylor, Jackson Brown, Gordon Bok, Mike Kellin, Tom Paxton, Woodie Guthrie, Pete Seeger, John Sebastion, Judee Sill, Janis Ian, Laura Nyro, Carol King, Kris Kristofferson, Nancy Griffith, Karla Bonoff etc. I think it was Roger Miller that said, "Every day that you write, you are a writer!" It doesn't take some magical kind of inspiration as much as it does determination and self discipline. If you keep doing it, you will get better. If you sit around and wait for inspiration, it's a lot like sitting around and waiting for the air to magically suck into your lungs. The effort you put into it is ten times as important as the spark that gets you started. If you can't write a song, write a slogan, if you can't write a slogan, write a parody. If you can't get a tune, ust write a lyric. Anything that keeps the juices flowing and the process moving is a good thing. Hope this helps.

Im into writing tunes, mainly trance and house, but i have branched out into other genres.
Wats the point of secluding yourself to only one genre when theres a whole world of music out there?

I have been writing music for about five years, but most of the poetry I've written all my life, was meant as lyrics.
