The best way to get the police to take it seriously is to involve the media in anyway you can. Call the local news stations, then more major ones. Tell any media outlet that will listen what the police are doing. Once light is shed on the police they won't want to look bad, and they will make it their first priority. I'm sorry for your loss, by the way.

Read the book about Adam Walsh, what an eye opener, you actually have to do the police work yourself. And the trail gets cold fast, so get a notebook and hand recorder and start tracting. Read the book mentioned, also John Grishams new book also shows how police (some) bungle, and slack.

The police may feel their more to this murder that's involved other family members as well. What I would do is take this case to America Most Wanted. When you involve John Wash, the police would take an interest. I am sorry about your brother.
God Bless

If your nephew killed him, yes you should want him behind bars because you may be next. Once a person crosses the line of killing another person, that is where family ties stop. That person needs to be placed in prison so he or she doesn't have the chance to hurt another person. Your sister is nothing thinking clearly. Her love for her son is clouding her thoughts. She doesn't want her son in prison, yet she is telling herself that he won't do it again. However, people that kill will do it again. What a sad story. Hugs to you.

They are keeping an eye on him. They need solid proof, such as DNA to put him at the crime scene when it happened. They may be pretending to be low key for reasons unknown to us. I think there are some legalities involved before police can issue warrants. You'd really need to talk to a veteran cop with all your questions. Wouldn't hurt to hire your own investigator(s) and lawyer(s).

No, it's probably because they're buried in work.
Your job, then, is to keep you and you family in their mind. Pick a day, once a week to call them.
Don't harrass them. Don't call them names. Just treat the officers like you would anyone who works-with respect-but keep at them.
I'm very sorry for your loss and the pain that your family has to endure.
