nah, no big deal, as long as you still keep in touch and don't disappear for days at a time.

Why not? You don't need to CONSTANTLY be with or talking to the other person. I am not much of a phone person myself. I would rather talk to someone in person. A phone (land line) is kinda necessary to set up dates and things like that. But cell phones are completely unnecessary. My husband and I didn't get any cell phones until about 2 or 3 months ago. -We are 24 and 22 years old and have been married for 3 years--just for a little background.

So how did people date and fall in love BEFORE there were cell phones???
What we did is made whatever effort was necessary to meet each other, hold hands, hug, kiss and speak IN PERSON. I know it sounds crazy and wild, but it did work before the cell phone, otherwise most of the teen to twenty something people who exist today would not be here.
You might actually learn to communicate better without the cellphone, "texting" and all that. And whatever happened to spelling? Sorry, I guess that's another issue!

There is nothing wrong with not having a cell or even communicating over the phone...it's the biggest in personal way to communicate other than IM's and Text Messages. Hopefully you have the charm and good looks to make up for it. But I may go out with a guy who doesn't have one and my solution would be...just to get him one...Family Plans?!?! Right? $9.95

Perhaps she has a control and/or jeaslousy issue. She feels the need to keep tabs on her man and what not.

Personally , I don't have a cell either. I have much, much better things to with my money. Besides,...I like my time out without distractions(my kids provide enough of that).

Lol I stay steer clear of ladies like that!

As long as you are around to answer your phone on occasion, it wouldn't matter to me. I'm actually thinking about giving up my cell because I live in a dead zone and when I'm out, I'm either right near a phone or I'm out on the boat where reception is iffy. I spend most of my day on the phone so I have no great desire to spend my own time gabbing.

I'm dating someone who doesn't own a cell phone. And he doesn't want one either. While it can be inconvenient when he travels for work, I don't need to keep tabs on him at all times. I know several ways I can get a message to him if I need to. And he knows all the ways to get in touch with me if he needs to.

It would not be an issue. Although there are benefits to being able to contact others nearly any time, any place...there are also downsides to being that "reachable" all the time.

Not dating someone due to lack of a cellphone just shows the other party wasn't really interested in "you" anyway.

She is being stupid. This world has gone phone crazy. My daughter flips out if she doesn't answer her phone. I say big deal. I can check the caller ID and call them when it is convenient for me. I seriously think she is using this as an excuse, or she is truly disturbed, find someone else.

If I didn't have a cell phone, I wouldn't date a woman who wouldn't date me because I didn't have a cell phone.
