I have a Golden Retriever and I take her to a wooded dog park every day. I just gave her our last dose of Frontline Plus and want to buy more, but now I see Frontline Topspot and it sounds like they are both the same product. My vet's office recommends Frontline products and they've been great for us for years, so I really want to stick with that line. Thanks!

I first bought the Frontline Plus because at the time, it was the only one that was bath resistant. But I now see that Top Spot is too. Reading the Frontline website, I see the difference being that not only does FRONTINE Plus kill up to 100% of adult fleas on your pet within 24 hours, it also contains a special ingredient that kills flea eggs and larvae to keep ALL stages of fleas from developing and bothering your pet and your family.

FRONTLINE Plus completely breaks the flea life cycle by effectively stopping the development of new fleas. And, FRONTLINE Plus kills all stages of 4 major ticks, including the one that may carry Lyme disease.

I didn't see these claims in the Top Spot description. I hop this helps, and please use prevention for yourself too! I use Cutter Spray.

frontline plus is a good product so is frontline topspot the plus will kill the flea eggs but if you use them each month the top-spot will work just fine for you and cost you a little less.

I just found out that Frontline Plus doesn't work until the flea actually bites the dog. I'm upset, because my little shih tzu keeps scratching, and I'm not sure what to do. I hate putting more stuff on him tho. I am looking for an alternative to Frontline Plus. I have heard others repel the ticks and fleas too, which sounds much better.

Topspot: kills fleas and ticks

Plus: "All the benefits of FRONTLINE Top Spot with an extra ingredient, (S)-methoprene. Not only kills adult fleas, but also breaks the flea life cycle by killing their eggs and larvae, preventing re-infestation"

Basically, plus does more than Topspot alone.

If Frontline Plus has been working good for you for years, why change a good thing. I have used it on my three dos since they were pups and have never seen a flea or tick. I wouldn't change for anything.

neither, they're both poisons. I have a golden and we got her a few different things from the health food store that help repel fleas and ticks naturally. I know they have garlic in them (which is bad for dogs in large amounts), I don't really know what the other ingredients are off the top of my head. But you could do a little research, I'm sure you'd find some good alternatives to frontline.
