The same logic applies. Who would CHOOSE to be a pedophile? Pedophiles are born that way. They have a very heavy cross, and we should pray for them.

you could argue that they're born that way. but that does not mean they should be accepted. my guess is you're equating someone being born a pedophile to someone being born gay, therefore maybe you're looking for some reason why gays should be able to control themselves. however, what happens in a gay person's personal life is not hurting anyone because it is between two (or more) consenting adults. the same cannot be said for a pedophile. also, i don't think you can tell a pedophile not to be a pedophile. i really think they need to be locked up, permanently. but that's just my opinion.

I've never heard that there's a genetic marker for pedophilia, so I can't say. Since most child abusers were themselves victims of abuse, I would say that it is probably not biological.

Regardless, pedophilia isn't a "lifestyle." The abuse of a child should not be tolerated. Pedophilia is not in the same field as homosexuality; there is a clear and very obvious difference between two consenting adults having sex and an adult abusing a child.

Equating pedophilia (the act of sex or sexual contact with a minor) to being homosexual (2 people of the same sex having consensual relations) is ludicrous..

If you want to equate 2 things make sure they are in the same ball park... There is no equating a crime against the innocents of a child with anything..

Most pedophiles were victims of pedophilia themselves.. This does not excuse their act but it does show a pattern of victimization followed by victimizing.. With proper counseling the pedophilia cycle can be stopped as long as the counseling occurred quickly after victimization.. And the child being counseled knows without a doubt that they are not to blame for their victimization they are the innocent party..

I am much more skeptical about counseling and/or prison time reforming the perpetrator..

On to homosexuals.. what 1, 2 3, or 5,000 people do in their sexual lives is their business as long as it's between consenting adults and not forced they can hang from the chandeliers, use whips and handcuffs, or dress up in teddy bear suits I don't care.. In fact I wish them well and encourage them to use lube and condoms...

No. Pedophilia is not a "characteristic" an individual is born with the potential of "developing." It is a fully described diagnosable disease in the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistics Manual 4th edition, text-revision (DSM-IV TR).

Being gay is not a disease; it is *not* listed in the DSM-IV TR. Pedophilia is not a social "norm," it is not acceptable, and needs to be healed. Being gay on the other hand is a social norm in many cultures, although not in our Western one.

Here's the difference... gayness is "judged" by social moral standards, but pedophilia is *judged* by life and death standards.

Thats only my opinion tho. additionally with the being born gay seem on youtube for Chris Crocker "Why i'm gay" undertaking. He has his very own opinion there.

First off, most likely, they are born with that predisposition.

Secondly, there is a difference between two adults having sex and an adult taking advantage of a child.

Third, just because it's "natural" doesn't mean it's acceptable. We ultimately decide what's acceptable by who it hurts. Homosexuality is a victimless crime.

Comparing apples to oranges.

Many people are gay, it is proven, nothing ethically wrong with two people loving each other. As long as it is consensual.

Pedophilia is not consensual, or if it is, it is under coersion or deception. It is not ethical. Pedophilia.....everyone has a problem with.

I dont have a problem with gays and I know they don't have a problem with themselves.

God does not create a person with sinful desires. The Bible tells us that a person becomes a paedophile because of sin , and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to paedophilia, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger / rage, does that make it right for then to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for paedophiles.
