ok, so my doctor says a cat scan showed that I have fluid in my abdomen likely of a gyno. nature... but then I haven't had my period for a year and a half... I don't think I have cysts, so what is this fluid? and can I get rid of it? or should I? Is that why I maybe look bloated sometimes? I don't get it... I had an appendectomy in Europe, but I'm fine, that was like two years ago. I'm a vegetarian. I'm really pretty healthy... and don't worry, I won't be taking any answers and then holding people responsible for misinformation or whatever...I admire people with the courage to answer medical q's...yikes!

It is called ascites. It can be caused by many thing and it can be harmless. You should follow your MD's treatment plan strictly. Try not to worry. It will be okay. Please follow up with your doctor for further details.

If the fluid in the abdomen is of a "gyno nature" then it could be blood. Like from a ruptured ovarian cyst. Sometimes you can still ovulate even without a period. On a personal note, I was diagnosed with fuid of a "gyno nature" and it turned out to be a ruptured appendix and I almost died. Luckily you don't have to worry about that!
I'd get a second opinion to set your mind at ease.
God bless

I just read an article today that stated the cause of fluid on the abdomen is actually a red flag that may indicate cancer. A simple blood test (that's the same as the one men get to check the prostate) should be done immediately and should be repeated each year. Even women who have had a complete hysterectomy should insist this test be done regularly. This shows evidence of cancer when all other tests fail. Please don't take this lightly. Ask your doctor if this test has been done and what your score was. A good score is less than 35; anything higher may indicate cancer cells are present.
