I am filling out forms for financial assistance for college and i need to obtain my tax forms from last year but I have either lost or missplaced them. Is there a way to get a copy of them and how?

actually the cost is around $40 per tax period. i recommend requesting a TRANSCRIPT of your tax return instead. it is free and has most of the figures you need for a loan, filling out a fafsa, etc.

IF YOU ONLY NEED THE NUMBERS IE JUST THE BASIC INFO INCOME DEDUCTIONS ETC REPORTED ON THE RETURN YOU CAN REQUEST WHAT IS CALLED A TRANSCRIPT OF YOUR RETURN...FOR THIS THERE IS NO CHARGE AND ALL THE INFORMATION IS THERE AS IT WAS REPORTED...
USE FORM 4506-T WHICH CAN BE FAXED IN AND YOU SHOULD RECEIVE IT WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS (I HAVE ACTUALLY GOTTEN THEM WITHIN A WEEK WHEN NOT DURING TAX SEASON) YOU CAN ALSO CALL AND REQUEST A TRANSCRIPT AT 1-800-829-1040...I PREFER THE FAX SO THAT I HAVE A CONFIRMATION OF RECEIPT, AND THEIR HOLD MUSIC IS JUST WRONG...
GOOD LUCK IN SCHOOL!!!!!! MORE DETAIL CAN BE FOUND AT THIS LINK:

Call the IRS. You can get a copy for $39, or a transcript at no charge. The transcript should be sufficient for your needs.

you can contact the IRS and ask for a copy of your return. you will probably have to fill out a form and I think it costs about 12-15 dollars.
