I am supposed to clean his ears with this oti cleanse then wipe the ear out with a cotton ball. I used a paper towel the 1st 2 times and both times he walked off and rubbed his head in the grass and dirt. He rolls around on the ground and shoves his head into the ground as if to clean his ears out with the dirt.
Its pointless to clean his ears out if he plans to keep doing this. He is an outside dog. What can I do to get him to stop it?

You are doing the right thing. If he suffers from swimmers ear, it should be treated. He is rubbing his ears on the ground because the treatment is bothering him. Once the condition clears up, he'll be fine. If he appears to be in pain after treatment however please ask your vet for a different treatment.

A dogs ears are the most sensitive part of his body and he is reacting to the treatment of the ear...it is normal...for him to do as he does....have you ever had water in your ear and then acted like a fool to get it out...well thats what he is doing... as for helping him for real...why is he outside and not inside when you are home? Are you keeping his bedding and area clean each week and free from dirt...there is a store her called 'tuesday morning" and i just purchased the best tent ever for my baby...a really big dog could fit inside, i put it up a little off the ground to keep ants and insects out...then I put a blanket and bathroom mat down a dog bed and some pillows...everything inside gets washed on fridays...anywhat it has screens and a cover to keep out the sun and he loves it...just $30 was a great buy...so be patient and keep things clean....my dog has nothing wrong with his ears...and i leave them alone unless he shows me they itch...then off to the vet...but not since i wash everything every week...

Hook him up like on a concrete driveway by a chain before you do the treatment. That way he can't get into the grass and you will have time to wipe his ears out well. Let him sit there until he calms down. You can try giving him a treat and playing with him afterwards to get his mind off it.
