As a Christian, I believe that my body is the temple of God, so if I do things to harm myself, then God's temple is getting ruined. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:12 that "'Everything is permissible for me'- but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me ' but I will not be mastered by anything.'" That means that you can do anything, but it's not good for you. God wants you to make the right choices. Have you heard the down side of drugs??? The people who you love and the people who love you will be affected the most if you do drugs. Then others will be affected because you might do something harmful when you're high.

Taking controlled substances is very natural, in that every ethnic group in the world (except one) has at least one type of of substance that reacts with the central nervous system, including alcohol. There are many different reasons that people have for using drugs and it's almost a right of passage
in many countries. Using illegal drugs to get high Is definitely not a sin, but it is stupid and often dangerous.

It is not fair to your friends and love ones. It is not fair to society. But most of all you are not being true to your calling to be the person you were meant to be.

Peace and blessings!

Edit: There were no drugs yet during Biblical times but there were alcoholics which is the same thing.

who's getting hurt by you doing drugs???? Gosh dude, you must seriously be retarded to not know that....your family, your friends, any one that knows you or cares about you....name anyone you know, and they probably have been hurt in some way when you do drugs....you have the right to get high, but it's illegal to do drugs....you know that...in the Bible, it states in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 " do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in yo, whom you have recieved from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." When you put drugs into your body, it doesn't honor God because your body is a temple and you're trashing the house of God....

Doing anything which makes your thinking numb or sedates you, is a sin. We do not realise it, but the truth is, that we in human bodies owe it to our souls, that we work with our mind and heart, towards it's salvation and that is bringing it face to face with God. That is the reason we have been gifted with this human body. We are not in this human body, just to make merry and die one day, having achieved nothing but death. There is a specific task to this body.

When you feel pleasure in being on the high, you are escaping yourself from the task that is assigned to you for your own benefit. The results show, only when we are patiently and steadily on our assigned path.

So physically you may be harming yourself to which you don't give a damn , and I am also not interested in guiding you on that. You are also wise. But your soul is a divine thing and needs to meet the divine body. It doesn't speak, but it quietly suffers, just like an abused woman suffers in the hands of her tormentor husband.

So its a sin, its a sin, its a sin.

There is no sin in using drugs, as long as you use them in the manner prescribed by a doctor...or, if you were say, a native American, by your shaman (a.k.a., medicine man).

Using drugs to reach a higher plateau of understanding is nothing new and has been done for thousands of years.

The secret: having someone to guide you through the experience.

The problem with the Western Culture (i.e., Europe and United States) is that we have this "just do it" mentality without fully understanding the rational behind the experience.
So, we end up harming ourselves or others in our pursuit of higher states of mind.

It is a sin to abuse drugs.
A good example would be someone wanting to just avoid the day-to-day rut.
The people seeking this kind of escape is obviously weak-minded and has no business getting high...but they do, because they are ignorant and unmotivated to seek spiritual guidance to learn how to rise above the rut they are in (real or perceived).

Do you get my point?

Taking a drug such as alcohol or ecstasy can impair your judgement to the point that you start to commit serious sins. Once you lose control of your will (which is what any drug will do to you if taken in excess) you may do things that are sinful such as (a) drive a car dangerously (b) attack someone verbally or physically (c) behave in a way that is offensive or scandalous. Drinking alcohol in small quantities does not usually result in loss of will and is therefore not a sin, however taking drugs is a slippery slope. God bless.

According to Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:23-24: ""Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others."
and also in Chapter 6 :12-15 "Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything. "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"—but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself?"

The problem(s) with your drug use are these:
1. When you are under the influence of a drug, it is in control, not God (or even you for that matter).
2. Drug abuse is against the law in this country. Christians are to obey the law.
3. Drugs rob you, your employer, teacher, family, God from you giving your best clear thoughts and efforts.
4. Driving under the influence can get others killed or hurt.
5. Addictive drugs can lead to stealing or other crimes when access to them is limited by money or prescription.
6. If you are a Christian, your body belongs to God. You don't have a "right" to abuse it.
7. Drug abuse can lead to health problems and premature death.
8. Items 2.,3.,4.,5. and 7. all have impacts on society in general and taxpayers in particular. Your abuse of drugs ends up costing others $$$$.

That's a few I can think of.

You hurt yourself. Just read the medical journals about the short and long term effects of psychoactive drugs on the mind and body.

Some of my friends, who have been the victim of a speed addict during a psychotic episode would not agree that a person who takes drugs hurts no-one but themselves.

How would you feel if you went to great lengths and efforts to make something for someone for it to be useful and enjoyable for them, but after you gave it to them they just chucked in the rubbish bin? This is exactly what you are doing to your body when you get high, getting high is an illusion of feeling good, and it may well feel good for a short time, but it does not come without consequences both to you and others too, think about it, you say,'who is getting hurt by me using drugs'? Well, first of you and God, second your family when they see the effects and consequences of your addiction and what drugs have done to you, then when your addiction starts hurting you and you try hard trying to feed this addiction you start stealing from others or even worse hurting them for money to feed your habbit then you will hurt anybody who can, make it possible for you, to get money to feed your addiction, so who are you hurting?Anybody having anything to do with you!The Bible says that your body is your temple and you are to look after it, not destroy it with druggs, thereby showing great disrespect for your life to the extent of throwing it in the rubbish binn! I have seen some of my friends in the past, fall prey to the vices of druggs, even to the point of loosing their life. They didn't listen either, they said it wasn't harming anyone. But it ended up harming not only them, but their family and loved ones also. There you have your sin, you are supposed to love your fellow human being, is that what druggs help you to do? Certainly not!
