Why can't people except the inevitable. We will all DIE someday. Why commit yourself to something with no proof, (and proof against it, i.e. science), with intense clashes (religious wars), and that helps absolutley nobody but the people who promote it (they financially reap the benifits)? Maybe only the strong realize that we will all die someday and whatever happens happens? God or no god, I think he'll judge whether or not we were good people, not how we spend two hours on a sunday.

Back then, they didn't have explanations for things like diseases. So they said God did it. Back then, it made so much sense that they made it into a religion. It was so popular, it lasted until now. I call that "old science." Now that we have explanations, which I call "new science," is there really a need for God anymore? Well that's monotheistic religion. The other religions, such as Buddhism, suggest how to live your life.

I don't know that I need religion, but I get a lift from going to church. I don't reap any financial benefits and neither does our priest. Our church can barely make ends meet sometimes because of all the money and other things we do for the less fortunate. I am well aware of the fact I am going to die, and I have frequently wondered if there really is a God (my minor was philosophy), but I have faith that there is. However, I don't expect you or anyone else to believe just because I do. I also know God will not care if we went to church or not. I keep that in mind when I deal with people and when I am trying to decide if I really need something or if that money could be put to better use. Finally, I sincerely like and enjoy the people at my church. Maybe it is an opiate for the masses as Marx said, and many wars are fought over it, but I imagine if we didn't have religion, we'd be fighting about something else.

because we have to spread gods words, in order to live right, or else we go to pot.

but again, the world is already gone to pot.

so with all those region followers, it doesnt seem to be getting better the world, but the opposite, something is obviously wrong, is it jsut us, or the religion.

u figure it out

i believe as long u believe in a creator of all creation, bless him when u wake up for another day of life, and live by the ten commandants, thats all one needs to live rightously, i dont believe we must pray every minute or every hour, we know our parents are good but were not every minute telling them they know in there hearts that we know there appreicated and loved, i think god knows that too. so aslong u acknowledge hes presence and in return thank him for another day he gave u, and follow hes rules hes givein, thats all one needs, yes we all well die and when we do well get the truth then, so while on earth why worry and devote so much time into all this fuse when were here, fuss over our love ones that need us more, god dont need us, we need him, and by bringing him into ur heart hell know u care and love him back, but praying every minute to him i dont think thats what he wants, also i dont think we should acept god out of fear, that is not what life is about, he gave us life to learn and become closer to our spritual being, and doing our best to achieve that, and not worrying everyday of what dealth is, were not perfect and he knows that cuse he installed that into us from the beggining so u reallly think he would punish us when its not all faults, we will be judged of our sins, but for a burning hell i dont believe hes that cruel, and like that on earth he only gives u what u can handle, and that goes for judgement day too, so no sense in worring over something u have no control, so get out of this thinking and live life, for again were not sure how long we have, so lets enjoy, im sure theres more surpirses awaiting, and im sure its more then what we have experienced here on earth, and for praying its done in the mind, and any place on the earth, u dont need to go church for god to hear ur prayers, hes in everyone and there forfore will hear u where ever u pray, i belive churches are just playing on those who are not strong enough or able enough to think for themselves, like a cult, use ur own judgment and intellengence, and then u will see the light, give ur time out for ur prayers for god but u dont have to over due it, as with enything in ur life, do in moderation and u will be fine. i see everyting today as a profit, what is really true anymore, and who is the one to say its the right truth, only u should decide and follow ur heart

I think the proof of God's existence is all around us..
the thing is many people fail to accept the evidence...

That's a great question. But God will not judge people based on where they were 2 hours every Sunday. He will only judge people based on what they have done or refused to do with HIs Son. The church did not come up with the truth claim that Jesus will save His people from their sins. The church never claimed to be the way, the truth, and life, Jesus did. The Church never claimed to be the resurrection and the life, Jesus did. The church never exhorted people to put their faith and trust in it, Jesus said "come to Me and I will give you eternal life." Jesus never said, "whatever you do, get religiion" it was religious people who wanted Him dead and put Him on the cross. My sin put Him there as well, and He died as My substitute. Yes, there is a psychology to it all, as Christians (followers of Christ) don't want their lives to be meaningless and valueless as a true atheist does. that we live in a close universe where no one hears us, or sees our pain or comforts us in sorrow. But what of the psychology of the atheist? Is the real reason he will not believe really on the theoretical level of empiracle evidence? Where is the evidence of dolphins becoming apes and apes becoming man? Where is the evidence of a cosmic explosion and when the dust settled, there is order, design, beauty, laws of gravity, solar systems will only one planet having the capacity for life? Why should we have compassion on the poor, needy and downcast when modern man is the product of the strong overpowering and killing off the weak? Can the man who rejects God honestly say there are moral reasons for not believing in Him like I hate the fact that God is sovereign and is in control of everything, that God is omnipotent and knows everything, that God is holy and I like my sin, and God won't change His mind or be bargained with. But God has acted on our behalf and provided something that we could never have provided for ourselves. He sent a Redeemer to redeem us from our sin. All He asks us to do is repent and believe. Has the church made mistakes? Yes, but the gospel is not the church. The gospel is Jesus Christ. He is perfect, He is love, He is kind and compassionate but He is also just. He calls people from every race, country, background, color, etc. into His kingdom and family. That is pretty amazing. Wars are started because of pride, greed, and arrogance and then when it is convenient, they throw God in to remove human accountability and resposibility. Why have the great scientists and philosophers throughout history believed in God, such as Isaac Newton, Johan Kepler (astronomer) and Albert Einstein? There are plenty of scientists who do believe in God but they get thrown out of the club when they believe the evidence contradicts their evolutionary presuppositions. Why have the atheists not publicized the name of Anthony Flew who was considered to be the worlds number one atheist but who recently came to believe there must be a designer in light of the evidence around him. Please, look him up. But more than that, look up Jesus Christ and receive eternal life by His grace by trusting Him to be the Savior of your sins. God bless you.

People are sheep and need to be lead, and to believe in something like everybody else, they need to feel they are a part of something larger.
They use religion to explain away the thoughts they can not understand or explain away.

It is most of Christianity's belief that part of our being---the way that we were created---there is an internal programing of sorts that makes humans want to search out God.....

They are insecure. They need some thing to submit themselves. This time its religion.

if not religion, there would be something else like communism, capitalism, race, etc.
Some people always find some thing to fight. Muslims think, they are of true faith and rest are sinners, christians think the same.
They probably cannot understand things so easily as some people like us do. This is human nature. We have to accept it, and try our best to better than rest.

People like the idea to be immortal and to enjoy in heaven. Think about it! You do something for religion and then religion brings you "immortality", eternal paradise and happiness..... It is something to die for. It is so good to be sure you'll go to heaven. That's why.

I'm afraid that as long as man lives it will exist. The world is scary and people need delusions.
