i hooked up the usb cables and read the user manual now my husband is out of town and don't want to worry him over some petty stuff so i thought i could ask someone on here and yes i have common sense and have tried to do it myself so if you can't be more simpathetic don't bother answering my question i don't need any smart remarks i did what it says and it says the device is not connected right so it won't transfer the images to my computer

Cameras behave like "hard disk drives".

First connect the camera with the PC using the USB cable.
Turn the camera on (if it does not turn on automatically)

Your PC should now detect the camera. If not, try another USB port, or take it out and try again.
Then use the Windows file explorer (or double click on "My computer"). If all went well, your camera should be listed there like another external drive. Select it, navigate through the file system and you will find your pictures.

I was having the same problem. Mine turned out to be because I have Windows Vista and it isn't compatable with my camera. Does your computer have a place to put the SD/MMC memory chip? If so, just insert that memory card and you should get a popup that asks if you want to transfer files. I hope this helps, because I really do know how frustrating that is.
