I prefer buying cameras from local camera shops. What I pay in tax usually comes out to the same cost as shipping- but I've got a place to take the camera if I've got questions or problems :)

Amazon is good for all sorts of electronics, though.

I like Samy's Camera out of Southern California. Good prices and fast shipping.

I would have endorsed Adorama too but I'm having a bit of trouble with them atm, so they're on my sh!t list.
