First: It is NOT illegal for a 13 yr old to get a tattoo here in Ohio with parental consent.
Secondly: It SHOULD be illegal
I asked my artist the last time I saw him what the legal age is, because this subject comes up on here so often. He said that there is no law, it is really up to the artist discretion. He will not do anyone under 16. He did make an exception for my son, who is 15, only because we have known each other for 17 yrs and he has seen my son grow up, and my son is more mature at 15 than most 30 yr olds AND he wanted a cross to signify his faith in Christ, not something dumb like a pot leaf of something. I really feel that 13 is just too young. Her parents should be shot!

If I saw a 13 year old with a tattoo on her lower back I would think her parents don't care much for her because they would have made her wait or get it taken off no matter the cost and make her pay for the removal! No 13 year old has the right mind to decide what tattoo they want on their body because they are always changing their minds! I say if you want something tattooed on your body at 13 wait until you are 18 and if you still want it go for it!

In one word: foolish. Nothing to do with the tattoo or placement but the age. They don't know who they are or what they want to do in life and now if these very young and illegally tattooed girls end up not liking them they have limit choices on fixing or removing depending on what they have. There is a reason that the very few places that will tattoo someone under the age of 18 will only go down to 16 with parental consent ... It's maturity and at 13 no one has the kind that it requires to really make a life long decision like that. I am really curious as to HOW they managed to get them ... I hope that shop is turned into the better business bureau. There are laws against that happening.

I think that is so messed up. I think that it is even more messed up that a tattoo artist would ok that. They can make the final decision when it comes to underage people. I think the only time that a child above the age of 12 should get a tattoo is if they have something gang related that they want covered up. Otherwise they should have to be at least 16 with parental consent, which I still think that it should have to be 18.

13 is way too young to get a tattoo. First of all because most 13 year olds are still growing. And secondly because nobody knows who they really are at 13 and the chances of getting a tattoo you'll seriously regret when your that young are far greater compared to someone who waits until they're at least 18.

not a good idea at 13 you dont know what u like enough to putsomething on your baoy that will last forever. and around here you have to be 18 to get a tattoo with or without a parent. where were her parents at when she had this done? or was it one of those a friend did it things? if so be careflu of infection if it is still new and i hoope that when she gets older she can find a really good artist that can cover it up becaue chances are she wont like it and it will be messed up from her body still growing.

It is illegal to tattoo anyone under 18 regardless of whether they're with an adult or not! Anyone doing this has no ethics and should be avoided. Obviously some unscrupulous people will do this though. If I saw a young kid with a tattoo I would be horrified, and willing to bet they'd be sorry they did it if you asked them in 10mor 20 yrs time.

First, I know it's going to look like crap because no good place or artist will tattoo some one that young, with or without parental consent.
Second, I'd think you're a prosti-tot. I'd think you're one of the snotty little brats who think they know everything about everything. Even though by the end of the year you'll regret the tattoo and will be begging your parents to have them pay to have it removed.
Third, in a few years, it's going to look even worse. You're not done growing, and the skin will stretch, and the tattoo will be messed up.
I really hope no one will mark your body with a tramp stamp.
I'm glad I've taught my sister about tattoos and piercings, About why you wait and why there is a legal age.

I would try to get her to the doctor to be tested for Hep C and other blood-borne pathogens. Anyone willing to tattoo a 13 year old is a scratcher and probably doesn't sterilize their equipment properly.

I would think shes a slut. Thats the tramp stamp area. And shes way too young. Way too young to make a decision about getting a tatoo. At that age your interests change too often, you grow out of things. In a year she'll regret it, and oh well sucks for her.
