For a long time I have been trying to figure out what our relationship is.

My relationship with him was strong enough that I stopped drinking. It was either that or there would be no more therapy.

I have never felt more comfortable or more uncomfortable with any other person.

I trust him more than anyone else in my life. I have told him things that no one else knows.

I respect him more than anyone else. He has brought me so far and stuck with me through some very rough times.

I still can't find the right word to describe my relationship with him; but I do not consider him my friend. He is so much more than that.

I wonder if I will ever figure it out.

My therapist and I got along so well.....we never went out for coffee or anything, but if by chance we met somewhere, we would sit together and chat...just not about anything in therapy. I was fortunate enough to have a therapist who had been through a lot of what I had gone through, and she was very wise for her years(50-60). I was with her for 10 years, and let me tell you, I cannot find another therapist I trust like I did her, no one I feel able to open up too. So if this is a friend, then I guess she was a friend.....to me and my husband. She still sees my husband in the town/place he works, and they speak like friends would speak.

It is good to be able to trust your therapist and to like that person BUT the relationship must stay professional in order to protect both the client and the therapist.

I wouldn't go out to dinner or a coffee or something with them, but it's good to trust them.
