the passport question comes up all the time......for American citizens you do not now nor will you ever need a passport as the UNITED STATES Virgin Islands are part of the UNITED STATES and traveling from Miami to St Thomas is no different than traveling from Boston to Martha's Vineyard.
The link is www.travel.state.gov. Read it completely down to the part that covers the Virgins, PR, Guam, American Samoa......
Not fancy or stuffy would be Bolongo Bay Beach Resort...
Do? Water Sports, sailing, swimming snorkeling diving deep sea fishing capital of the world; beaching , great shopping as we are a"duty free" port......
just like anywhere there are areas you should not go...they are pretty obvious as you drive thru them, so DON'T STOP!..the tourist centered areas and he hotels are safe as anywhere and better than most other Caribbean Islands.....
Come on down!

It depends.
If you are a U.S. citizen and traveling to the United States Virgin Islands (St. Croix, St. John, St. Thomas, and Water Island), then you do not need a passport. However, if you are traveling to the British Virgin Islands (Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke), U.S. citizens need a valid U.S. passport or other proof of U.S. citizenship (original or certified birth certificate, Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship as well as photo identification), onward or return tickets, and sufficient funds for your stay.
I've never been, so I can't tell you what to do or where to go. I just know what it takes to get there.

while you're worried approximately hurricanes ruining you holidays, do what those human beings residing in typhoon zones do, tutor your self. initiate with the NOAA website. seem at climate underground on line. seem up Dr Jeff Masters there. you will learn lots. Danielle isn't forecast to hit any land mass in any respect. it is going to in all possibility recurve and flow east of Bermuda. there is yet another typhoon, at the instant dubbed "make investments ninety six" on the heels of Danielle. All that being pronounced, there is genuinely NO earthly thank you to predict what your climate would be in Naples from the third to 9th of September. the top of typhoon season, statistically, is the final week in August and the 1st week in September. via late September, the probabilities decline dramatically. although, whether Danielle or make investments ninety six are not going to hit Naples, and that they gained't, a sparkling typhoon could desire to variety in the Caribbean on September 1st and be a Cat 3 or 4 typhoon via the time it have been given to Naples during your trip. no longer likely, even though it could desire to happen. while you're that during contact approximately it, take out trip coverage. trip coverage pays for any lost deposits, canceled flights, etc in the form of a typhoon. absolutely everyone who's coming to a typhoon zone in August or September who would not get trip coverage is somewhat silly, in case you purchase it far sufficient ahead, that's airborne dirt and dirt much less costly. stable success. to your sake, (and ours in Key West) i'm hoping there are no storms. Been via sufficient of them.
