Try Pastis in the Meatpacking District. After, you can walk around and look at all the cute little shops! The food is very good as well!
Whoever said Nobu, has no clue on ehre to go in the city. Afterall you are only 17 and I don't think you want to drop $ 100 for lunch...Pastis is a chic little place!
Happy Birthday!

Okay, I do agree that at some point you should try Nobu, but not on your birthday. Too much drama. I ate there once and thought the food was great but it is ridiculously crowded, loud and dark. Depending on where you are seated, you are sometimes eating practically with or on the table next to you. Plus, now they have a rule that you have to put a deposit down on your seat (in case you bail on them).....no, REALLY! On top of that, they ask you honor the next reservation on your table (which means that you HAVE to leave at "x" time regardless of whether you are ready or not.
Now for a real suggestion: Bann. This is a real fun place to eat. It's Korean, but not limited to that type of food. The best part is that you get to cook your own food (if you so choose)! You have grills right at the table. I had a blast when I went and will definitely go back. It's a bit pricey, but if you can afford it, definitely worth it.

If you're looking for a wild time at a restaurant, you might consider going to Lucky Cheng's. The food there is so-so but the entertainment is hilarious. EVERYBODY who works there is in drag. If they know it's your birthday, they'll definitely put the spotlight on you and make a spectacle of you and your friend. Everyone will have a great time...at your expense! It will be unforgettable!
Dinner ranges from $32 to $40 per person.
Address: 24 E. 1st St. (between Houston St. & 2nd St.)

Stop with the Nobu. Everyone says Nobu in NYC. It takes like 2 months to get reservations just to eat Sushi. And the tables are packed in there like sardines. Go to Spice Market for great Thai food.

BED NYC down in the Chelsea part of Manhattan. Don't know the exact address but you eat on beds instead of at tables. You get to take of your shoes and they give you complimentary BED socks. After 12 it turns into a lounge. Good drinks and music. Mixture of Hip hop and alternative. Best in warm weather so you can go to the roof and eat outside. Pretty cool huh? Their chicken is really good. Pricey but worth the experience.
