Blood is thicker then water, but she may have a bias opinion of the situation due to the hate she would most likely harbor for the guy. Feel it out, does the guy love ya.
Also whats with this "how do you learn to fall for only the good guys" stuff. Its called experience as long as you learn from it you should be fine.

You know what? Sounds to me like you need to seek out a new social circle of people that you can really trust, and within that circle, guess what! You will find good guys. Wouldn't you rather be around people you can believe and count on?
