I've been thinking of neutering my dog but I don't know how much it cost. I heard it was good for the dog too. If your dog has undergone the procedures, I would like to know how much it cost you.

You shouldn't be thinking about it - it should be a task. The price depends on where you live, go and how big he is. If he is a small dog like a Maltese or Chihuahua, the price will be significantly lower than if you were to neuter a Rottweiler or Newfoundland. Generally, if you go to a vets clinic to get it done, it's going to be more expensive than it would if you went to the SPCA to get it done. Just call the vet office/SPCA and ask how much they charge. It's $280 to neuter at the vet office and $240 to neuter at the SPCA - where I live.

This can be tricky, because the price can go up due to your pet's status. Neuters are simpler procedures than spays, so they are naturally cheaper, The weight of your dog affects the price, i.e. the heavier the dog, the more it costs, and if the dog is overweight, there is usually an extra charge. Also, if a female is in heat, there is an extra charge. Lastly, if the dog is over five years there is usually another charge! The clinic where I work charges around $200 buckeroos for a neuter and $250 for a spay, if the dog is up to date on vacs and not old, in heat, and overweight.

I strongly recommend neutering your dog. Personally, it has always been the best thing for our pets. Last I knew, it was about $80 - $100, but that was a few years. (You might want to check with different vets or call the local shelter for ideas from them.)
Here are some benefits from neutering and spaying:

Spaying or Neutering Is Good for Your Pet

Spaying and neutering helps dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives.
Spaying and neutering can eliminate or reduce the incidence of a number of health problems that can be very difficult or expensive to treat.
Spaying eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer, particularly when your pet is spayed before her first estrous cycle.
Neutering eliminates testicular cancer and decreases the incidence of prostate disease.

Spaying or Neutering Is Good for You

Spaying and neutering makes pets better, more affectionate companions.
Neutering cats makes them less likely to spray and mark territory.
Spaying a dog or cat eliminates her heat cycle. Estrus lasts an average of six to 12 days, often twice a year, in dogs and an average of six to seven days, three or more times a year, in cats. Females in heat can cry incessantly, show nervous behavior, and attract unwanted male animals.
Unsterilized animals often exhibit more behavior and temperament problems than do those who have been spayed or neutered.
Spaying and neutering can make pets less likely to bite.
Neutering makes pets less likely to roam the neighborhood, run away, or get into fights.

I had my cats spayed and neutered at the vets office. Spaying was about $220, neutering about $150.

There may be low cost spaying and neutering places where you live. You can call your local animal shelter or humane society to find out if they have information on them.

We found a good vet out in the more rural areas away from the big city. He charge $30 to neuter a male. It about a one hour drive one way, but, gas was cheaper then too. So, you have to do the math if you find one cheap in the country. He may save you $40, but, if it cost $50 in gas then you lost money.

Depends on the size of the dog and the vet. Sometimes you can get spay and nueter certificates from shelters that can really cut the cost of spaying or nuetering. I got one for my Akita mix. It only cost me 35.00 dollars. He is a big dog too. Something you might want to look into. His surgery would have cost me about 150.00 dollars because they have to stay over night.

the cost depends on which vet you go to and what exactly you get done. when i got my dog neutered (25 pounds) it cost about $150 total. there was an $80 fee for a test to see if he would be allergic to the anesthesia. one thing you really have to watch out for is stitch licking. my dog somehow got his e-collar off and had bloody stitches when i got home from work. brat.

Here in Iowa it costs between $69 and $120.
It can also cost more to neuter a dog if only one testicle has dropped.

It really depends on where you live and how big your dog is.

It can cost anywhere from 70 to 100 dollars, give or take a bit.
