Toss handfuls of red pepper all around the horseshoe pits.It will not hurt the ground.And the cats won't come back.And it is safe,no harm to the cats.

You Can Get A Cover From A Garden Center And Theres Some Stuff You Can Get At A Pet Store You Spray On Your Yard And Can Be Used Inside As Well That detores Them From Relieving themselfs Due To The Smell That Only They Can Smell

sounds mean but a vet told me to do this. place a box with some meat in it when the cat goes in close it so it cant get out and turn the hose on it 4 a while till it thouroughly drenched then let it go. worked 4 me the cat no longer enters my property!!!

Try tossing citrus peels in/around the pits. Most cats don't like oranges or lemons or the smell of them.

Cover the pits just like a sand box that children play in.

Hey Chris,
I agree with mememon, just cover them up, it's
probably the only way that it's going to work.
I've tried everything to keep my neighbors cats
out of my flower gardens (moth balls, citrus plant,
special sprays) It just doesn't work.
I'm having the same problem, and I don't want
to harm them.

Go to a garden center. There are materials gardeners use to drape over their tomatoes and such to keep birds away. You could stretch this over your pit when not in use. It's weather proof and pretty durable.

yeah- the pepper thing is supposed to work really well. i just had someone tell my grandfather to spread black pepper all over his brand new chair because cats don't like the smell
