I would buy from a reputable breeder over a pet store regardless of cost. The breeder will sell you a Chihuahua whose parents have had all the essential health checks. If the parents haven't, then don't buy a puppy.
At the pet store, you are getting a chihuahua from an unknown origin, in fact, your puppy may not be a purebreed chihuahua at all.

Forget the cost it's BETTER to buy from a GOOD breeder. One who will check you out and make sure you are good enough for one of his babies.

Pet store puppies are almost always from puppy mills. Hence they have many health issues and will cost you a fortune over the span of their lives.

If you find a good breeder then you will have many less problems.

I have 4 Chihuahua's all from the same breeder. They are fit healthy and very well adjusted dogs. Something that is very rare in a dog bought from a pet store.

If you really want to know about cost puppies from a breer are almost always cheaper. If cost really does matter though contact the Chihuahua rescue and save the life of an older dog. That way it's much cheaper. Whatever be prepared that Chihuahua's can be very costly in vet bills from broken bones etc as they are so delicate

Puppies from the puppy store are usually overpriced. Most of them come from puppy mills and thus are not healthy. With a pet shop puppy, you will probably be spending tons of money on vet bills since you are getting a bad quality dog. Also pet stores will lie very often just to make a sale. They will tll you that the dog you are buying is a chihuahua and than 6 month later it will grow higher than your knee or something. Most young puppies look similar, so pet stores take advantage of that.

I would buy from a breeder if I were you. You will be getting a better quality, happier healthier dog. if your dog is healthy you will save on vet bills throughout the dog's life.

Probably a pet store, but by getting one from there you could be taking a big risk. You should get one from a reputable breeder, so that you can see the Mom and Dad, and see that they have been screened for lots of genetic disorders. This would be a much safer bet. From a pet store, there's no knowing where the poochie came from or what health problems it will face in the future.

That's just my opinion, it would probably save you money on vet bills in the future. But, if you want to rescue a pet store puppy and show it a great life, then go for it! Good luck! :)

Do you realize that if you buy a puppy from a pet store you'll be supporting puppy mills? Not to mention that chances are really good that you'll have nothing but health problems with your puppy.

Do not support puppy mills. Research breeders, ask a lot of questions and buy from a reputable breeder. Chances are the price will be cheaper any way, but even if not, you'll be getting a healthy puppy, have a breeder available for questions you may have, making it cheaper in the long run.

a breeder would be a better route to take. If you buy from a breeder you know what your getting and you can see the parents plus you can pick out which one you wanted. unlike a petstore where they have one or two in the window plus at a petstore all of there animals are over priced, live in bad conditions and you could wind up with 35 pound chihuahua with floppy ears. Thats the risk you take if you buy from a petstore. I bought my first chihuahua from a breeder who breeds pitbulls and chihuahuas ( not together!!) but I got to see the sire and dam. I got registration papers and a record of his shots (very important). I paid 500 dollars for my blue male chihuahua but everybody is going to ask something different for their pups. So just shop around for breeders in your area save you up some money and get you one. My little "Chase" (who is four months old now) is well worth every penny I paid for him. He brings a smile to my face everyday. Good luck in chihuahua hunting!

always buy from a reputable breeder I cannot stress this enough especially with this breed due to the fact that if you get a cheap dog you will have many behavioral and health problems . Go to a reputable breeder and you get what you pay for . I hope I helped.

Find a reputable breeder in your area. Never buy a pup from a petstore. These pups come from puppy mills and usually are very unhealthy. Often dying soon after purchasel.
