There's really no fixed time for everyone. But I'd say the absolute minimum would be six months before you get engaged. Then another six months of wedding planning etc.
For some people it happens really quickly, if you meet the right one and you both realize it early it doesn't take long. But you both need to be sure, that's really the issue. If there's any doubt, then you're not ready.

I think it is just a personal thing. It's not just the length of dating before marriage; it's the length of dating before becoming engaged. I personally think a year is good.

as long as they want.there is no set time limit on how long you have to date some before getting married
