We are currently fostering a 7 year old neutered male bichon that was turned in by his owner for marking. He is incredibly well behaved and an all around awesome dog.My only complaint is that I have to keep a belly-band on him when he is not in his crate or outside because he lifts his leg to EVERYTHING.Any ideas? We've neutralized with enzymes (nature's miracle) after the first 2 incidents - our house is new - there are no other animal smells. He is our only dog...and his former home had 5 so I understand the need to mark then, but there are no doggie smells in my house. Why is he still marking? We feed him an all natural holistic brand of food with no by-products, he's been fully vetted and he's healthy, we walk twice a day for an hour and he is social, active, loving and follows commands.I'm afraid we're going to have trouble getting him adopted out if he doesn't quit this marking behavior.I've caught him trying to mark with his belly-band on and scolded him but he soaks his pad again.

Ran out of room! He attemps to mark at different places each time and even with scolding him and keeping a close watch on him I'll notice that his pad is soaked. Several times a day we have to switch them out. Any suggestions are welcome, please!

I'm a total devotee of Cesar - but even with the walking, scolding, creating pack leader, everything he still is marking. His frequency has slowed down some - used to be 10 times a day but after 2 weeks it is only once or twice a day.

Be consistent when training him; even if he does end up with a wet pad. His marking may have became a bad habit that he grew up with, so he won't understand completely what is going on when you scold him.
You might want to find a trainer specific to this type of behavior and ask for his/her advice.
If he continues to mark (or pretends to mark since he is wearing a wrap), you might have to start crate training him for longer periods of time and once he is out; the first thing you do is to let me go pee out in the yard or take him out for a walk. You can train him to pee on command and once he learns this, praise him generously when he does outdoors. If you catch him in the act indoors, say NO loudly or make a loud noise that will distract him. Take him outside promptly and command him to pee; when he does, praise him.

Hello, I do not know what the legislation are to your the town or nation, however right here in Massachusetts U.S.A. the puppies have got to be certified and feature had rabies photographs and so forth. A even as in the past my collie combine used to be fortunately gambling with the lads subsequent door. My backyard is fenced in however the boys climb over it to play with my puppy. Well, in the future one of the vital boys obtained nipped by means of my puppy. The nip used to be, of all areas, on his penis. The mothers and fathers have been quickly to pay me a discuss with after the little boy went residence crying. I apologized for the puppy's nip, confirmed each mothers and fathers the forms and license. The mothers and fathers have been relieved that the puppy had all her photographs. As an further degree I furnished to pay to have the child looked at on the health facility. The mothers and fathers prompt that the lads have been often gambling somewhat too hard with the puppy, and that used to be the tip of it. If the legislation to your the town require that the puppy be certified and feature all of the photographs and also you complied with this, then it could be as much as the regional gurus to assess if the puppy is a vicious animal, which centered in your info I do not consider it's. It's too unhealthy that being within the equal constructing your puppy used to be no longer "announced" to the buddies. Kids often like puppies however for them to regard the puppy so cruelly some thing need to have occurred.

So is he neutered. It's like anything else, a bad habit. I don't know what to say. What does Cesar say. Maybe keep him on a leash in the house, when he marks, say no, bad dog (don't get emotional, be firm) and take him outside. Bless you for fostering.
