Honestly, I'm not some proud and rebellious atheist. I just don't see "God" around me. Christians always quote the passage in Romans to tell me that God is right smack in front of my eyes. So why don't I see it? Why don't I have a sense of a higher being? Why is there nothing inside me that is compelled to worship a higher power?

If God is great and all powerful then He should be more obvious, don't you think?

I'm open minded and inquisitive. If God wants to tell me something, I'm listening. Hmmm, I've been listening for years now...........

Ok, you are misrepresenting evolution. It's not about random chance. I am not denying that there is beauty in nature.

the obvious isn't always believed, is it?

Einstein was a genius, everyone knows that now, but everyone thought he had a mental disability when he was young. he didn't seem to be exceptional until about 3. obvious?

things often take time, or YOUR obvious may not be someone else's obvious. perhaps you are also unclear about worship then. worship is putting God first in its essense. you're not kissing up, or trying to inflate His ego, but you put Him first and do this out of love for Him. but love is almost never an instantaneous thing. kind of one reason why we are called into a relationship with God.

so to many Christians, seeing order means there must be one who set it that way. that's their "obvious". to others, the fact that the big bang has no initial trigger is obvious. to some, seeing how God's word ties into natural truths is their obvious. it's relative.

so I can understand you not seeing a rock and thinking "hey, this fragment of carbon and silicon is so intricately designed so that it is both hard and light weight! it's low albedo and heat capacity make it useful in the maintaining of the ecosystem". but saying "there is no higher power because it isn't obvious" lacks rationale.

God doesn't always "talk". He may show up by someone else's words, by letting you figure it out on your own, by His word, by a vision, etc. God rewards those who diligently seek Him. just wanting proof isn't enough. you must seek Him. seek, and ye shall find.

Have you ever stopped to read the passage the Christians are referring too? Try reading it. Romans Chapter 1.

It is obvious that all which exists did not come from chance or evolution. It is too complicated. This complexity demands that there was a designer. This is what is being referred too.

You are just full of sinful pride. Careful, it can destroy you. It seems obvious from your question that you are not thinking of this, but it is worth mulling over.

You are like one of those people who walks up to the 3-D computer generated pictures and says, "What plane?"

Just because you cannot see it yet does not mean it is there. Ironically in your ********* you imply that all who see it are deceiving you and do not 'get it'.

If you cannot see or understand, then who is 'not getting it'?

I hope your are really as open minded as you claim to be. If you are then you have a chance. But your tone suggests otherwise.

if God was more obvious that he already is.. then there would be no point of searching for him, no point of looking for him. and how do we look for him? by talking to him, reading the Bible, etc. .. and how do we know he's there, how do we know we found him? if you honestly and completely believe with your heart that there is a God, and you ask him to let his Holy Spirit touch you, to let you know he really is there, he will, trust me he will and you will feel him.
Anyway, what more proof do you want?
you know how lucky you are that you can breathe, live a normal life, see, hear, speak, touch, walk, smile, that you have family, that theres air, that theres a sky, and how beatiful the ocean is, that you are here on Earth, the flowers, and animals,... do you think we magically appeared here??
there must be some explanation, and the only one that seems to make sense is that the LORD my God, created you, and me and everything else.
and some people ask why is there so much bad things going on?
because God gave us free will to do what we choose, and ofcoarse us being human, we do the bad thing and we turn agains God and we cause things for ourselves. seriously though, every action wether it be good or bad, has a consequence. so we need to stop blaming God for everything bad that happens, we bring it on ourselves.

and to try to make myself clear, when Christians say to see the LORD, to hear the LORD, ..etc... we're talking about the Spiritual eyes, and ears...
just pray to him (talk to him, in confidence, as you would talk to a friend, but with a little more respect) and he will personally let you understand.
all this ^^ may mean nothing to you,...untill you feel/live it for yourself
so give it a try ... get on your knees, pray a little and pick up a Holy Bible (not the new american version or whatever its called... it takes away the true meaning of the word)... but yeah and he will speak to you. trust me.
well God Bless
and if you have more questions try visiting a nearby Christian church.. they can help you ..

"And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your hear" Jeremiah 29:13

Wow. I truly love your question. You are a seeker that is great. Whether you remain an unbeliever or not you've at least looked at all your options.

Now, the thing is that we are so busy today that we don't take the time to "smell the roses". In a way that is what Romans is encouraging us to do. Look at the perfection of a rose and ask yourself whether it was necessary for survival or whether it was created by a lover of beauty. As yourself when you see in color WHY you see in color. No other creature does, that Im aware of and yet they survive just fine. What purpose does it serve except to enhance our enjoyment of life... not existence. Same with our taste buds. Was it really necessary for us to enjoy our food. Is that necessary for our survival? No only that we eat. Look at the sun. It's at precicely the right location. If it were any closer we'd fry. If it were any further we'd freeze. This precision... the percision of the entire universe... which allowed man to time space flights incidentally ... all happened just ... well just because? There are so many things within us and around us that speak of a life not existence. That speak of joy. Not just getting through each day surviving. If you think about it one of these wonders in and of themselves might be acceptable as an "accident". A nice bi-product of evolution or of the big bang. But put them together and don't you think we should consider something else?

All the best to you in your quest.

RUKiddin? - He DOES tell us exactly what he wants us to do. People just don't want to believe it or hear it.

I think your recent additional comment on the beauty in creation was for me so: Let me see if I can clarify my point. Evolution is about survival of the species. What purpose does the beauty of a rose serve? If you look around you every was made for mankind's enjoyment. It's as if someone opened their doors to a home for you but before your arrival prepared everythinng so that your surroundings would be beautiful and comfortable and that you would have food to each. Often those that believe in evolution will point to this species or that species to try and prove their point. I say look at the larger picture and try to envision how it all fits together.

I have no idea who/what God is---my puny brain is not big enough to take it in.

I know that there is an intelligent design in the things I see. A single cell could not come into being without a designer---to be able to come together and somehow eat, breathe, grow, maybe----to reproduce----never.

So, ya start thinking about what kind of being designed this single cell, and you think---he/she must want it to work out.

That's about where I get lost---most people believe a similar religious tradition to that in which they were raised, but if I say the word "Christian" the atheists will be on me again like a pack of hyenias----so----you are not required to worship. But look around---if what you see impresses you, you might want to try to meditate/make contact with the being that put it all together....or not

Sometimes answers aren't as obvious as we'd like them to be. Most of the time people run around in a busy shuffle going through "the daily routine" not noticing or even trying to notice anything besides what pertains to them and their "daily walk". In the mean time, God is staring us right in the face. If you're having a hard time "noticing" God, stop and smell the roses for a minute. Step back and look at the bigger picture going on around us. We all walk around with a purpose day-to-day. Whether it be to make that million dollars or even just to eat atleast once that day, we're all here for a bigger purpose and the answer to our purpose is held by God. God answers us but not always in the way we expect.

God IS right in front of you. Look at nature, look to the sky -- do you think just anything could create galaxy upon galaxy and design them in just a way to keep them perfectly controlled by gravity? Look at biology -- do you think just anything could create cells so small that have so many functions and are programmed just perfectly to do so? The human body is another of these extrordinary creations -- every single organ, every single cell in our body has a different purpose -- and they all work perfectly together to keep us alive.

God's creation and power is so great that we, as humans, cannot even begin to try and imagine it. Can you truly understand what an eternity is? Can you truly understand how vast space is?

In Isaiah, the Bible says:
Lift up your eyes on high,
And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number;
He calls them all by name,
By the greatness of His might
And the strength of His power;
Not one is missing.

If you cannot see these examples of God's greatness and power, then you must be blind. God uses all of us, whether to do his will -- or if we resist -- to strengthen others who do his will. "Open-minded" may be something different than how you are currently reacting to God. As the Bible says: "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" Maybe God has been trying to send a message, but the receiver never listened. Maybe God is sending the message more subtley than you expected. Continue to pray for His work in your life and continue to live a life worthy for Him.

Some are blind.

You stand there wanting to see God, but how many time have you seeked Him? In hide a seek, you know that the person is around somewhere but will never find that person unless you seek. The Bible tells us "Seek and you will find". It might not be right away, but trust me, if you seek with all your might and with a humble heart then you will find God.

If you are referring to Romans 1:20, that tells us that nature and the creation is evidence of the invisible qualities of the Creator. He revealed Himself through nature, the Bible and Christ. Look again, and seek with a humble heart. When you start on a journey and already know in your heart that you are going to fail, does it raise the chances that you will make a mistake for worring about it? Yes.... start with a clean slate, and seek God. Go on the journey of faith, and know in your heart that you will find God.

You don't have a relationship with Him. You should study His word and pray for knowledge. Pray for him to come into your heart and be sincere. Then find a church with people your own age to worship with and encourage you. Look at it this way. At least meet Him halfway. He has given us a choice to make and if He knows you want Him He will welcome you with open arms and you will receive the Holy Spirit which is the feeling of love and God's presence that you obviously need or are looking for.

God is not going to speak to you from a cloud.
let me ask you a few questions;
are you a good person?
have you ever lied(be honest. If yes, you are a liar. So am I)?
have you ever stolen anything(if yes, you are a thief. So am I)?
even something realy small?

God calls this sin and because of sin (Hebrews 9:27)

.... it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

If you are not sinless on judgement day (I guarentee you it will come) God will condemn you to Hell because he is a just God and sin cannot go unpunished. that is why he sent his son to die on a cross 2000 years ago; so that you and I would not have to go to Hell.

Accept Him today!
