My infant son (4 months old) attends daycare 4 days a week from noon until six pm. While there, he can play in bouncers, walkers, play gyms, etc. Also, even at his small age, they do arts and crafts with him! The other day he was sent home with a poem talking about how small he is now, and how big he will soon become, and on the bottom was his hand prints in ink! It was so cute and it made me realize that even at his small age, the teachers take the time to really sit down with each child and do fun things like that, that will some day mean something to not only him, but me too! Also, they sing songs, read to them, etc!
I am totally pro-daycare! It is soooo beneficial for both my son and myself. It gives me a worry-free day at work, knowing that he is in good care, and it also is great for him because it teaches him great social and interaction skills at a young age! And in response to some saying how all kids in daycare get really sick...of course they do! But all of them get over it in a few days. If you are that worried about having your child get the flu or worse, then maybe they should never go to wal-mart, or the mall, or the park, etc! There are germs everywhere. What do you think, that your kid purposely got sick because they were at daycare? Grow up, stop being overly-protective, and realize that kids get sick, that's just a fact of life!

My daughter goes to a home daycare run by a nurse, and 2 full time helpers. They are licensed for 14 kids. Emma goes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for 6 hours a day. She goes at 9:00 am right when circle time starts, they read a book and sing songs, and do arts and crafts. Then they get free play outside for 30 minutes, then they get lunch at 11:30. They all go down for naps from 12:30-2:30pm, and then have snack. I pick my daughter up during snacktime.

My son is one and has a wonderful daycare. It is in the basement of a church (not the one that we go to) and it is great. He is 16 months and here is their schedule:
I drop him off at 7.
7-9 playtime with other children
9 is breakfast
9-10:30 is outside playtime
10:30-11 is art project (I know that sounds a little weird since he is young, but it is mainly fingerpainting)
11-11:30 play with others
11:30 is lunch
12-2 is naptime
2 is snacktime
2:30-4 is playtime
I pick him up at 4
Since he is so young, most of the day is playing, sleeping, and eating. Once they reach preschool age, they have little classrooms and it is a lot like school.

My daughter is 3, she goes to a daycare that's accredited in early childhood education. Her day is very structured, playtime, story time, music time and art time everyday, as well as 2 snacks and a nap. Oh and lunch..playtime is outdoors, unless the weather is very bad. She goes 3 days a week and loves it, asks to go there on the weekends.
At her age, it's 6 children per caregiver, when she was a baby it was 4 children per caregiver.
WI mom- I suppose you are wealthy enough to have a maid and a cook so that you can spend every waking minute one on one with your child, and never have to worry about having enough money to keep a roof over your heads. I saw my daughter's first step, heard her first word, read her books every day, and taught her to count to 20. She also recognizes written numbers 1-10 and about half of the alphabet. Quit gettin' your panties in a bunch and chill out.

My niece is being taught sign language. They have easy to learn Toddler sign books. Also she is being taught her ABC's and how to count to 10 in a song. They are also teaching her how to kick a soccer ball and run with it. They also have a finger paint and coloring station, where they get t make crafts and fun stuff. Be sure to use non toxic paint if you do this. I am a little jealous because my son is home and I think he would benifit from the socializtion that daycare provides. Dont listen to the judgemental people, there kids are the ones that never do anything wrong, just to perfect.

During the day they generally have circle time where they dicsuss what day it is and they have claender time and then they go into lessons at my cener we have themed weeks like Flowers. so during the week all art projects, books, and things they learn revolve around that theme. they get a morning snack and an afternoon snack as well as lunch.. ect...

Well when my daughter was 4 months old (now 7 months)and went to day care for 2 week time frame so i could pack and move to Texas. With in the first week she caught the Stomach Virus. So im never putn her in day care again, hubby wont allow it ever either.
You can go in and sit, watch them care for your baby or drop in with out notice, they shouldnt mind. If they do then pull them out and find someone else. Look for clean facility, amout of kids per person to watch the kids. How everything is kept and how you feel. Ask for back ground informatin on the workers.
She was fed and placed in a swing or jumper until she was tired or fussy. More kids there are, less attintion each child gets

my children are older now but when they were in daycare- they would have art and crafts ( one thing they did was make a book of receipes from the kids fave dishes) it was cute to see how kids thought things were made. They also made a collage of their hands, and feet. then they would have music time, nap time, lunch, routine bathroom breaks.

I don't send my daughter to day care but I do take care of my baby as well as my best friends 3 children ages 9 months, 14months, 2 1/2, and 5. The 2 1/2 yr old does puzzles and we work on the alphabet and numbers, as for the 5 yr old we work on alphabet, numbers, addition and subtraction. We have reading time( i read them a couple of books) nap time and they have "recess" time. I hope this helps. I have them 5:30am to 2:30pm So I also feed them lunch and breakfast.
