My dog is 5 1/2 weeks pregnant, she was urinating earlier, and the urine was normal. Then something kind of long and mucas like came oput from there somewhere. Is this like when a pregnant woman looses her mucas plug before labor ? She's acting fine, except as she's getting further along, she mopes around and wants to be glued to me.

It's normal. It does not mean that she will have pups any sooner then 63 days. No need to see the vet over this. It was a mucous plug. Long ,clear in colorm string like spahgetti.
I have had a bi-tch to drop those here and there from half way through the pregnancy until near the end.
If there was any color to it I would say have her checked out.. green or yellow tinge or blood tinge..

Edited to add that personally the last place I would take a pregnant bi-tch who was not in any kind of distress or trouble is to the vets office. There are a lot of sick dogs at the vets office incase people didn't know that and I see no reason to put pups and mother in danger of disease just before giving birth. I do think that a person should absolutely seek a vet if there is a problem. Just use common sense and if you do not need a vet, stay away from there!

Call her vet. Are you breeding for a reason? Anyone breeding should have full knowledge of everything before allowing their dog to have puppies. Do you have homes for all of them if they survive? At only 5 1/2 weeks she may be having problems as I do think nothing should have come out of there unless she were in labor. Take her temperature rectally hourly for the next few hours. If it stays over 100 (normal should be between 101-102) then she isn't in labor but the vet might still want to see her. If it's under 100 then she's in labor. Taking the temp isn't hard, in fact it's easy and she won't really mind too much. I know it's gross but it's a way of life for breeding. A temp under 100 means labor has either already begun or will within 24 hours. She also might lose her appetite but other than that might act mostly normal or slightly tired. Good luck and call her vet either way.

She should only be in the middle of preg a normal preg is 63 days.or about 2 months.
I would call teh vet tomorrow and ask them about the mucas. non of mine has done that that I know of.
It sounds likd this is her first preg and she is starting to feel the pups move and teh harmone cahnges she is looking for you for "help"
just console her and let her know she is ok this can be normal for sonme jsut like people some handle it eith no problems others don't know what to do .
"Good luck with your new family

ok- do not set up a gaggle of diverse places. set up a whelping field in a quiet component to the living house and gate it off or close the door and characteristic her sleep in there till the domestic dogs come so she gets used to it. verify she is going exterior on a leash purely till after the domestic dogs are born otherwise her instinct would be to pass to floor to have them which will advise below a associates porch or another inconvenient place. do not permit her pee in the living house. that's disgusting and unsanitary. confirm you have approximately $1500 set aside for a c-area and your after hours vet emergency extensive type reachable. you're able to be feeding her intense high quality puppy nutrition as much as she needs. you're able to have saved them separated to start with. and you're appropriate. an extremely professional breeder would not have an idiotic twist of destiny. Get her spayed in spite of everything the domestic dogs pass living house.

63 days is usual gestion for dogs so shes no ways near being close to whelping. I'd bring her to your vets for a check up and see if everthing is ok.
The being glued to you is very normal for a dog. Being mopy is normal too. As the dam get bigger than the pups put alot of strain on their systems.
I would really get her in to be checked by your vet. This way too he may be able to tell you approx. how many pups she is having so you can be prepaired.

Are you sure of your dates because gestation is usually around 9 weeks. This is WAY too early to be losing a mucous plug.
Was it perhaps a tapeworm or roundworm?

Take her to the vet and have him give her a prenatal checkup to make sure everything is okay.
