There is a kitty that has been hanging out behind my apartment. She appears to be pregnant and I would like to know how far along she is?..I am just finishing up with college and I leave for home in a week. I want to make sure these kittens are safe. Thanks!

If she is tame I would suggest picking her up and taking her to a vet if you want to be responsible for her. If you want to be sure that she is safe but cannot care for her I suggest you take her to your local humane society they do good work they will take care of her and will make sure the kittens are taken care of too. If she is wild you can put out a cat trap and try to catch her then take her to the humane society or since you are short on time you can call the animal control office and they will make sure she is in good condition and take care of her.

A Cats Pregnancy Is On The Avg Of 90 Days If She Is Really Large And Is Starting To Lose Hair Around Her Nipples She Is Probably Due At Any Time It Really Depends On If It Is Her First Litter Or Not Her First Litter Will Be A Little Late In Most Cases and More than Likely She will Have Only 5 Or So And Most Of Them Will Probably Not Make It But On The Reverse She May Have 10 kittens and all survive If You Have The Means To Do So You Could Take Her To The Local Vet And for about 30 bucks they could tell you more or at the least they could take her and keep her till she delivers and then when ready find the kittens good homes

if you can touch her i would try to catch her and put her in a little cat carrier/kennel or a large box. if your home has a basement take her down there and dont let her out. take her seperate food and water if there are any other pets in the house. if there arent any other pets take the food down to her anyway. make her a little bed so that she is comfortable when she gives birth. once she gives birth dont touch the kittens for about a week, even if you try she wont let you, but buy some canned milk at the pet store and mix it as it says on the can. you should only need to do this when the kittens get older and the mom runs out of milk. later on you can usually just give the kittens away to people. dont sart giving them away until they are about 7 or 8 weeks old. just ask around if people want them. well i hope this helps! good luck!

p.s. just be careful when you pick her up.

You have 2 options here.1) take her to the vet they can usually tell you how far along she is.2) take her to an animal shelter they will care for here where you probably can't.

PS I just had almost the same thing happen to me about a week ago and we are going to adopt the mother after she's done feeding the kittens.

Cat pregnancy is only about 63-65 days, NOT 90!

This cat will need help: somewhere safe to have her babies, and someone to look after her so she can keep them well fed. I suggest you take her to the vet. If you're not willing to keep her, take her to the local animal shelter. They will spay her after she'd had her babies, and try to find good homes for them. (It's usually easy to do that with kittens, because they're so cute and playful.)

The best thing to do if you find a pregnant stray cat is to take it to a shelter and have it spayed immediately if she isn't too far along. There are too many unwanted cats in the world already.

If you can't care for her, take her to a shelter. They will place her in foster care where she will be cared for until she is done feeding her babies. Then, she will be properly spade and put up for adoption. Her babies will go into a loving foster care as well until they are old enough.
