Hi everyone who has answered.

I have tried several Chinese grocery stores already and they only have the huge commercial size that runs on gas. I have also tried searching the internet.

I know they make these somewhere b/c I met some sailors from Japan who have one on their boat--just can't find one in the USA yet.

I too love basmati rice!

I know I can just make it on the stove, but we eat rice every day and with only 2 burners, I need them for other stuff for dinner.

Please keep the answers coming if anyone has any luck--space is an issue when you live on a boat, so I can't use a 33-55 cup size.

Hm...tough one. West Marine has one that works on 12V, and another that you can use on your propane stove top, but so far, no propane appliances.

Man! I have looked at Coleman, and REI, you'd think they'd have something. No luck, so far. You may need to just put the pot on the stove...I'll keep looking, though, and let you know if I find anything.

I have never heard of one, but I do have a suggestion. Try buying basmati rice and cooking it on a propane burner. It's one of those set it and forget it things. You boil the water, add rice and boil for one minute, then turn to low and leave for 20 minutes undisturbed. This type of rice takes on the flavor or distributes added flavors very nicely. We use our camping grill to make this when the hurricanes hit!
