When hungry and trying to lose weight, one might tell oneself "No eating! You are wanting to wear that little red dress next month for the theater premier. . .do NOT eat!"

But for a pardon? "Forgive that person, you have to forgive since they were mistaken and did not intend to hurt me. Must forgive... must forgive. . ." is what you might tell yourself" ? ?
