I for one would love the chance to drive and race for a living. I do believe that is my calling.

Only if they can keep up with the competition. I don't like the idea of giving someone a ride just because they are what NASCAR wants in terms of diversity. Erin Crocker is a prime example. She couldn't cut it, even in great equipment. She never even finished top-15!!! (16th was her best finish, twice). If she hadn't had a "close, personal relationship" with her boss, she wouldn't have made it to the end of the season.
I know there are women out there who are capable of running the series, but I don't believe in making a spot for those who are not capable solely because they are a woman.

If they can drive competatively let them. NASCAR does have several younger women who are currently involved in lower level racing and there have been some in the past. NHRA has several right now some of which have had a lot of success and won championships.

Its hard to get into racing. There are probably only a few thousand drivers in all the major motorsports (NASCAR, IRL, CART, F1, WRC, etc in the world. With so few girls liking racing in the first place there just wont be many who actually make it.

hell yea let the women race.. i would love to have that danica patrick in nascar so i could see her on tv every week... if they can hang with the guys and earn the respect or show the ability.. they are prolly looking for more female drivers now more than ever... the closest thing they really thought had a chance of making it is erin crocker and she cant even run worth a crap in arca...so i would say they are prolly looking for a replacement thru the diversity programs... yes i know there have been women who have raced before but honestly none of them really had much of a chance to make it.. they were underfunded and over extended teams.. most of the time didnt have a sponser and trying to make the race so they could maybe pick up some money to make the next race.. they are honestly looking for a more diverse driver base .. and some big money teams now i think are honestly looking i could see ganassi or ginn doing it..

If that's what you want to do, then I say why not! There are actually quite a few women drivers in the lower levels of NASCAR (like local short tracks). From a team owners perspective, it could be very beneficial to have a girl on the team, because I imagine some sponsors could easily use that to their advantage. Just look at how popular Danika Patrick is in Indy.

Women should be given the same chances to compete. If they're good enough, great, if not then they shouldn't be there.

So - to answer your question - there should only be more women drivers in NASCAR if there are women drivers out there that are better than the men they would theoretically replace.

Hopefully they'll all look like Danica Patrick!

Women drivers in NASCAR is fine as long as they have the tallent. Shawna Robinson was in the sport a few years back and prob got extra backing because she was a female BUT she was not that good. She ran slow, got lapped and would wreck into good drivers. She became a safety risk much like Montoya is now. I think if women can handle the speed and have the tallent, go for it!!! I would love to see some good looking women in the sport.

As far as driving goes,I think that yeah there isn't any problem in having more women in NASCAR. The problem is the extreme heat and fatigue that the drivers go through every race. I'm not sure how most women can handle that. I am not saying that women aren't as tough as men because I know that I would not have children if I was the one that had o give birth. It is just that most men have more body mass and are able to withstand losing it through sweating throughout the 2-3 hours of racing.
I wish you the best of luck in achieving your desire in beoming a driver and I wil keep an eye out so I can root for you.

I think it would be great if there were more women drivers in the sport but I can see why there are not. I think there are many reasons why there aren't but I think the biggest would be that about the time they would be getting started and becoming successful would be the same point in their life they would be thinking about getting married and starting a family and let's face it driving a stock car at 200 miles an hour isn't that safe to begin with but you certainly couldn't be doing it when you were trying to have a baby.

As I see it, the biggest obstacles for a woman driver becoming a force in NASCAR, is finding a competitive team and, big name sponsor to, give Her a fair shot (at least 3 seasons with, competitive equipment). there have been several females over the last few years who, I thought could be successful, given the chance but, it never materialized. the latest was, Patty Moise.

once you're relating Danica Patrick, she seems to be the two hated. I don't have something against the female. No, she would not have a great variety of wins in IRL. yet she has additionally been intentionally wrecked on quite a few activities while she replaced into doing properly. What i do no longer understand is why one in each and every of those great variety of human beings seem for loss of a larger observe threatened via the assumption of her coming to Nascar. i individually do no longer think of she'd run properly there and that it could be completely a exposure stunt from Nascar's attitude. i'm no longer listening to too lots of absolutely everyone expressing the opinion that she could do properly. however the comments quite much border on misogyny. She's at an advantage the place she is, and he or she would be staying there. i could purely prefer to correctly known why it bothers one in each and every of those great variety of ladies and adult men human beings that she's making those comments to get additional funds out of IRL. in the top, however, i think of that the adult men could a minimum of settle for her as eye candy.
