become ecstatic when you here of new diseases hitting the human race such as AIDS. You must be the only group of people on Earth who would NOT welcome a cure because you need something to justify your rantings about Armageddon.

Adams rib - If it was not for the enthusiasm with which the local Witnesses speak about AIDS and other things I would not be saying this. Blame yourslves.

There are other doom and gloom people who become ecstatic about such things. The JW's are the largest organized body that does this.

Why would we be happy about disease or anything bad that happens to people. Do you think that Jehovah's Witnesses don't get diseases? My Father has heart disease, my Step Mother has Parkinsons. You think it doesn't break my heart when I see the children in Africa without parents, because they died of AIDS?

Do you think that Jehovah's Witnesses aren't effected by natural disasters? I live in Florida and a pray that a bad hurricane does not hit. Just thinking about New Orleans and Katrina, still makes me so sick to my stomach. To think that people in this country would have to live on an over pass for days, no food or water, with their loved ones dead beside them...it does show me that if the US can not handle the such problems, no country can.

Do I think man will ever find a cure for AIDS, no I don't. All these things reinforces in my mind that we are living in the last days, and that man is ruining the earth. Our only hope is God's Kingdom. As Luke 21:28 states "But as these things start to occur, raise yourselves erect and lift your heads up, because your deliverence is getting near." (Luke 21: 10 & 11) Anyone who dies from such causes has the hope of a resurrection. John 5: 28 & 29 "The hour is coming when all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.." So Jehovah has not forgotten them.

We feel that same as Jehovah, he does not want anyone to be destroyed . 2 Pet 3:9 "Jehovah...is patient with you because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain repentance."

Firstly, I am NEVER happy to hear of a new out break of disease. The fact that you would make such a claim is truly sad if you simply believed someone who told you and vile if you simply made it up. As for cures, I welcome them. My father died of Cancer less 3 weeks ago because there isn't a cure. I contribute to various organisations in hopes of them finding something to help. Yes I am a Witness. Yes I do long for the time when there will be no suffering, this doesn't mean I do nothing to put off suffering now.

Luk 9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

While Witnesses do not have the power and authority as Jesus and his disciples had, JWs as followers of Christ preach about God's kingdom which will remove sickness and death.

Mat 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Luk 9:2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Oh, come ON! Reporting the current world situation is "enthusiasm" and being "ecstatic"? You're more talented with words then some of the other slanderers I've seen on here.

We are joyful, not because of the situation, but because of what we know is coming next. Jesus gave the sign of the last days. Then he said that when we see these things occurring, we should lift our heads up, because our deliverance is getting near.

And speaking of AIDS, if people of the world had kept the Bible's standards of morality, it would never have become the epidemic we see today. There's no way you can deny that.

Edit : So I can find your question and answer it later. Definitely not because I think its a great question, by any means.

O.K. I get the feeling a JW somewhere has upset you, but let's not tar everyone with the same brush. Just so you know, I am NOT a JW, but I have observed the species and have an understanding of them that may have escaped the general population.

Jehovah's Witnesses want to save you. They genuinely believe that all those who die without a least having heard about the Lord will die twice, once on earth, and again in the spirit realm, when the day of Judgement comes. They really don't want you to die. Awww! So, apart from what you may have heard, I think the vast majority of JW's wouldn't want new pestilences plaguing the planet.

Now it's going to take them a little while, but they are going to have to admit that their timing for Armageddon is a little off. Well it is if they're expecting the four horses, etc. What is going to happen is that this current system of things is going to change forever. In around 2012, the effects of Peak Oil will be making themselves felt, and the economic, social, and political systems we have will all have to change in the face of oil depletion.

So, rise above it all and forgive them, they at least have good intentions.

Lies!
Jehovah's Witnesses aren't happy to see diseases! Actually they care about health more than others. They don't want to put their or others' lives at risk. That would be against Jehovah's will.
