My b/f says it is better to work out on the gym right after the walk...because your body is all warmed up...rather than wait, say, later in the day after your body has cooled down...and you would have to get warmed up all over again.

The rule of thumb is to do ur cardio after ur anaerobic(weights), but of course be sure to warm up first. It kinda depends on how much cardio ur doing as well as ur level of fitness, body mass etc.. When I run its usually 5 or 6 miles. Pretty tough to do wights after that. So I run one day and do weights the next. To me two miles is sorta the breaking point. If ur only walking and heart rate is in the 110 range it OK to do it first.

I like to run before I work-out to warm up, but technically the "best" time to work-out is prior to cardio. You get a cardio work-out with any weight training and running or walking after a work-out relieves tension, loosens muscles and burns more fat. Depends on what you are looking to achieve, but your boyfriend is not all wrong.

I think it depends on your energy level
