i liked this guy (we'll call him J) for a while. things sorta happened, but then fell off. i wasn't too upset about it and recently started dating someone else, and he's great. well, now that J knows i have a boyfriend all of a sudden he's sayin we should hang out. someone please inform me as to why when a girl is off the market guys are all of a sudden interested. because i just know if i dumped my bf (which i wouldn't do) and went after this guy he'd loose interest again.

Because now you are unobtainable, the forbidden fruit the candy in someone elses fridge. Girls do it too. Its also because he sees how you are in your current relationship and he wants that as well. But the reality is that its almost impossible because you react to different people differently.
If he can separate the friendlyness from old habits then he would make a good friend.

He's immature and likes the chase. Some men never grow out of this. Kind of in the vein of "The grass is always greener" and "You want what you can't have."
Women do this too. They want the jerks and not the nice guys who actually like them.
I would stick with the guy you have now - your ex needs to grow up.

i have the EXACT same problem!!! I just started going out with this guy and now all these guys at school are joking with me and flirting with me and actually paying attention to me ALOT. I dont know what the deal is!!?? I think we need some guys to answer this one.

Guys, like Girls, are competitive by nature. For instance, go to a bar where there's dancing and find someone to dance with. Once you do you'll notice that all sorts of folks want to dance.

JEALOUSY!!! it always happens. A guy brakes up with you and then sees you flirting with another guy and all of a sudden he'll try and get you to flirt with him! guys like that.
