because I refuse to join their churches....So if I joined a mormon church, I'd go to their heaven...if I joined a lutheran (christian church) and accepted jesus I'd be saved.....So why not be a good person and do the right things in life? Or would it be "Safer" to join every church to make sure that you'll be saved no matter what?? I watch what is being said on Yahoo in the religious section and it is always so horrible to read.....what good is it to fight and preach to each other? Is anything getting accomplished? The only thing that is getting accomplished is we are all becoming less loving and less understanding to each other. I am not trying to choose a religion because none of them suit me.

I do see some good things on Yahoo answers when people help each other out.... but I still don't understand why it is so important for others to bash each others beliefs.

It's sad when people point fingers and tell others they're going to hell.

It goes against the words of Christ himself. I believe it's Matthew chapter 7 where Jesus says as you judge you will be judged.

Now, for those who take the bible literally, that means if you tell anyone they are damned to hell, you have just damned yourself.

It's also sad that you only see the negative posts. There are a great many people here who are loving, compassionate and very helpful.

One doesn't have faith because it suits them. One has faith so that one can grow and change. Faith is not static. Faith is ever growing. Ever changing.

One doesn't have love because it suits them. Love just comes upon us. Like it or not. Very often the people we chase due to a physcial attraction are completely ill-suited for us. But then - WHAM! - along comes St. Valentine with the unexpected love of our life.

Shall I go on? Or am I boring you?

Deus caritas est. God is love.

First of all, I am a Christian. I will tell you what I know. The apostles wrote their writings all before 70 AD. That is pretty much agreed upon amongst reputable scholars, even amongst the non-Christian scholars.
The only writings that were ever removed were writings where authenticity and truth were questioned. Such as books that were written between 100 AD and 300 AD.
With that being said, think about all that Jesus Christ said and taught as written by the apostles. And by the way, they weren't all a bunch of uneducated people as some have stated in other postings at Yahoo Answers.
Luke was a doctor and highly educated. Paul was a Pharisee and highly educated. Matthew was a tax collector and he too was highly educated.

In scripture Jesus Christ said that He is the way, the truth and the light and no one gets unto the Father but by Him. You don't get to Heaven by works, because we all have sinned and have to pay for what sins we have commited. It was witnessed by the apostles that God said that Jesus is the only Son, in whom He is well pleased. God witnessed to the authenticity of whom Jesus was and is and always will be.
Christ Jesus said that He is the mediator between us and God. There is no one else that you need. Not the pope, Mohammed, or anyone else.
Islam is a really big fraud. Mohammed was an illierate and had borrowed heavily from the Bible to invent his religion that he made up. He was also a child molestor. Because of his being illiterate, he couldn't even steal from the Bible very good. He was an opportunist going for a power grab after the Roman Empire collapsed.
As far as to what church to go to. The Mormon's church is a big fraud. Man can not become a god and does not evolve into one at any moment in Heaven. In their Book of Mormon it talks of the lost tribe of Israel coming to North America in 880 BC and finding a land of plenty where there were cattle, horses and sheep. First of all, horses didn't come here until the 1500s with the Spanish Conquistadors. So that in and of itself is a fraud. Second, there was not a literal lost tribe of Israel. Half of the tribe of Manaseh was not allowed to enter the promised land spoken of in the Bible. But they never disappeared. They didn't wander off.
Joseph Smith was not very educated and didn't know the Bible good enough to plagriaize correctly, so that when he borrowed, or stole from the Bible, he really screwed up.
Anybody that reads up on him will find that his mother was an occultist and his father was a con man. Both had arrest records in New York. As the saying goes, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and he got both of his parents bad traits and then some. So, I wouldn't waste my time with Mormonism and get suckered in to their false religion.

As far as what other church to go to?
Try this web site - www.activeword.org
I personally like it for all of the info and free sermons on video.
They don't try to sell holy water, or annointing oil.
They have an archive of teachings recorded from the pastors while on radio and tv. All of it free to listen to. There are no membership fees.
Just remember this, Jesus pointed out and made it very clear that you don't get to Heaven by being a good person and without accepting Him as your savior, you don't get to Heaven.
You might want to give the web site I gave you a chance. What do you have to lose? A few minutes of your day, verses an eternity of not being in Heaven?
Pastor Bob Coy is the pastor there. The church is called Calvary Chapel. They aren't Baptists, Lutherens, or whatever. They are just Christians.
May God bless you with His light, truth and Wisdom.

By the way, I don't bash anyone. I do expose a fraud when I see one and try to help people from being suckered into a fraud scam such as Mormonism, Islam, the so called Wicca garbage, Budda and the Hindi religion.
before I became a Christian, I had studied world religions in college and learned a lot about the various religions.
God has offered all people a very special gift and has given us the free will to accept it, or not. The choice is yours and for your sake I hope and pray that you take God up on His very special gift.

Well,do what you think is right.
Form your own religion!
People aren't getting less loving,less undrestanding-perhaps.
BTW NO ONE IS GOING TO HELL

IF YOU ARE GOING TO HELL,THEN I'LL GET THERE AND MAKE IT IN TO HEAVEN.

Here is something I found on the net, and I hope it clarifies anything :
There was a man who died and was being taken to heaven by angels. The angels said to him, "We are going to take you to heaven, but first we will show you hell."
The angels then took him to a place where there was a great bowl, so great that it was as big as a lake. The bowl was filled with a nutritious stew. All the way around the sides of this bowl were people. Emaciated, starving, miserable people. These people had spoons to eat the stew with, and the spoons were long enough to reach the stew (about 12 feet). The trouble was, while they could scoop up the stew into the spoon, they could not get it into their mouths because the spoons were too long. So here were all these pathetic people, suffering and moaning in agony, constantly trying to eat the food that was abundantly in front of them - all in vain.
Next, the angels took the man to heaven. To his surprise, he saw the same scene! there it was, a giant lake-like bowl of the same stew, surrounded by people with 12 foot long spoons. Yet something was different here - all these people were smiling, happy, and healthy looking!
"Why? What is the difference here that these people are happy and well fed?", the man said to the angles.
They replied, "Have you not eyes to see?". The man looked more carefully, and observed that one person would scoop the stew, and bring it to the mouth of another. Then someone else would scoop up stew and feed it to the other.
The angels smiled and said, "Here the people feed each other. Here are the people that learned the way of Love."

It is really shocking what is said here, a lot of fire and brimstone, I take it all with a grain of salt. Personally I believe it is the way you live your life that is important. Treat others as you would like to be treated, treat your fellow man with compassion, empathy and respect and I believe that is what is important.
I don't live near a church in the faith I was brought in, but I pray everyday (more like having a chat). And I try to be a good person, though of course I'm not perfect. I do not think that because I don't attend church the God is going to send me to hell. It is God who will stand in judgement of me, not the people on yahoo.

The church isn't a building, and religion is only mans way of pushing further away from God with traditions and ritual's. If you love God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbor as yourself in other words follow the 10 commandments you'll be just find. The Only way to go to Hell is to deny Jesus the Christ as your personal savior. Going to church is only to strengthen you with fellowship.

We are all going to hell according to someones religion.

I'd like to suggest that you just be you. If you want to go to a church, go. Find somewhere that you feel comfortable and don't allow the fringe who think you have to be a member get to you.

There have been times when I have went to a church for years and was never a formal member. I am not currently a member of the church I attend. I'm not ready to make a commitment.
I wish you joy for the journey. Don't let the bickering here get you down.

Well if you find one that is more interested in you soul then your wallet?...I go to Church...but my wife does not..and she is a Catholic..but I don't give my 10% as I am on a fixed income and i give what I can afford...so

as you believe so shall you receive..

just find a church that you are comfortable with...as if you don't believe in them..then what is the use of going? Pray on your own for spiritual growth and spiritual understanding..and read the Bible and Pray...maybe then you will find the answer to your question...
God's plan of salvation is wisdom to the believer but foolishness to the unbeliever....

God will let you know where he wants you..just pray for guidance

Hell is a tool used by people "in power" to keep everyone else under control by instilling fear. The Turn or Burn "philosophy is totally silly.

Can you even imagine that anyone or anything powerful enough to create an entire universe would be so petty and vengeful. This is once again a case of humankind giving god it's image. People might be petty but god is not.

I know how scary it is it...I have had people "good christian people" tell me that my 13 year old child who was killed in a car accident is burning hell........What kind of god would do that,

Practice kindness and compassion and leave the turn or burners to answer for their actions to a higher power.

By the way the mormons don't believe in being saved, so you are not saved, you are either going to the celesteial, telestial or terrestial kingdom, according to mormonism. you will also have to share your man with many women int one of these kingdoms in eternity on some star called Kolob and produce children for the rest of eternity for some other planet earth...by the way.

Trust in Jesus Christ as saviour. You say that no religion suits you. Check out Christianity and the claims of it before you give up on it.
