what does POW/ MIA stand for i think it has something to do with the navy but i have no clue ????

MIA= Missing in Action
these terms are used in all branches i believe

POW/MIA is as everyone else has stated Prisoner of war/missing in action.
With the Navy being the land of acronyms there are others as well.
Plan of the Week is almost always called the POW.
Petty Officer of the watch(POOW)
I'm sure you could make a million others.
