Exploration is glorious to Christians

I have read (studied) the Qur'an. If Muhammad is God's prophet, he would not make any mistakes. The Qur’an claims that Jesus did not die and God did not raise him from the dead. We have four accounts of Jesus dying on the cross and God raising Jesus from the dead. All four state the same thing: Jesus die and God raised Him from died. How do you explain it? The accounts (all four of them) got it wrong or Muhammad isn't God's prophet. Are you saying that God did not get it right the first time? You may have lived in a Christian middle class American neighborhood, but rejecting one belief for another based on your lack of understanding of the first and an even greater lack of understanding of the second is hardly a useful demonstration of faith. The Qur'an is not a novel but is God's word spoken to Muhammad, Muhammad who is an Arab and a political leader. Mecca is not Jerusalem and definitely not Rome. If Muhammad is your prophet, you need to do more studying and less witnessing.

Reading the Qu'ran would be just as evil as reading harry potter if you do not believe it. In fact reading the Qu'ran could be useful and I would encourage it. It is on a par with the bible and other religious books on offering advice on general behaviour. However, as it is a major religious book it should be with respect, certainly around muslims. It should be placed on the highest place possible (on a high shelf for example) and should not be offered to muslim women.

Questioning God and christianity is a gift God allowed us to have when he created man so not using it would be a greater sin.

Yes a Christian should read the Qu'ran so that we can intelligently answer intelligent questions based on it. Most Muslims do not even understand what is in there (For a benign example Mary the Mother of Jesus is the only woman mentioned by name in the Qu'ran)

People wake up, ESPECIALLY CHRISTIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES, you need to read the quran, a lot of it is about you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The quran tells Muslims to kill you, terrorize you, treat you with harshness. Read Ezekiel and you will learn the during the end times the false prophet will come from the Middle East. It seems that he will perpetrate a religion and fool even the elect. If you know about Islam than you can do what YHWH has told us to do and speak out against this evil. If you know nothing, you can’t. You may also be able to save someone from the grips of this satanic religion.

I read your answers and your ignorance is the very thing that allows Good Muslims to terrorize the World.

I am not picking but…

Jnsmrrs says that it is the Muslims that believe islam should be the only religion that make it seem bad. Brother, if you knew the Quran you would know that the Quran teaches Muslims that islam should be the only religion and they are suppose to fight and kill until it is. These Muslims are not un peaceful, they are Good Muslims defined by muhammad and his diety allah. They are doing what they are told. It is the peaceful muslims that are not. They are called hypocrites by their god and muhammad.

Qur'an:8:39"So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)."

Ishaq:324"He said, ‘Fight them so that there is no more rebellion, and religion, all of it, is for Allah only. Allah must have no rivals.'"

Qur'an:9:123"Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you."

Muslim:C9B1N31"I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify to the fact that there is no god but Allah, and believe in me (that) I am the Messenger and in all that I have brought."

Tabari VI:138"Those present at the oath of Aqabah had sworn an allegiance to Muhammad. It was a pledge of war against all men. Allah had permitted fighting."

And there are many, many, many, many, many, many more. Yes, read so you may be equipped.

Then we have people like Patrick, Max Mari, Wajid K saying the Bible and Quran has things in common when they are the anti thesis of each other.

My God, people, do you think that the FACT that most terrorist are Muslim is a coincidence. Its not!!!!!!! And until we open our eyes it will continue to get worst, right up to WWIII when a 1/3 of the worlds population will be killed just like the Bible says.

Should we read the Quran, you bet you should. Also get these…

Muslim and Bukhari Hadiths
The History of Al Tabari
Sirat Rasul Allah
And atleast 3 translations of the Quran(my recommendation 1. NOBLE BY KHAN if you want to buy just one. The other popular is Yusuf Ali but if you get one, get Noble by Khan)

I fully believe that every member of every faith should explore other religions and their beliefs. If you find another religion that more closely mirrors your beliefs, then some people may choose to change. I, for instance, more closely agree with many islamic beliefs than the christian religion I was raised on. I still won't change my faith, though, mainly because of my location and my family. But if you believe in what you believe simply because it's the only thing you've ever been exposed to, then that's not real faith, it's just following the crowd.

Nothing wrong with reading fiction like the Qu'ran. I advise if you wish to read the Qu'ran do not let it interupt your Bible studies. I do not feel it is neccessary for a Christian to read the Qu'ran or any other religoius book. I don't think there is any valuable information for a Christian from reading the Qu'ran.

Christians may tell you that exploration is evil, but to answer your question - Hell yes they should read the Qu'ran! Christians should read everything they can possibly get their hands on, then maybe they'll gain some dad-gum horse sense!

Yes they should. But not for exploration of evil. Just to acquaint yourself with their belief system. As well, I think you should educated yourself in other religions before you get here in R&S and start bashing something you know nothing about. It really makes a person look silly when they "think" they know something and they actually know very little.

I can't see that it would be wrong to read it. I don't think reading what other religions are about is wrong. Same as I wouldn't say that it was wrong for a "mainstream" Christian to read the book of Mormon, etc.. There's no harm in reading about what others believe. ALSO, if you are approached by someone of another faith that wants to 'debate' you about things, wouldn't it be good to know what they believe too? :)
