instead of eating the greasy cafeteria food, i have been eating the "add ons" at the salad bar. i dont like lettuce, so i get sunflower seeds, bacon bits, and ham bits. for on the side i get a little thing of fat-free pudding, and some chicken noodle soup. they sometimes have chips with it. i wish it would have some effect on my weight, but it doesn't. why not? i would think it would be better than the grease covered pepperoni pizzas, grease slathered french fries, and grease sopping chicken patties...wouldn't you?

This is a definite improvement on the cafeteria food, however when losing wieght many people are very unrealistic about how long this takes. For quick and drastic changes a drastic change in diet is necessary (although can be unhealthy). Of course a change in exercise will have the same effect.

A small change like this is likely to take weeks or months to show since ham and bacon bits are still quite high calorie, as is no doubt the fat-free pudding. It will show though, you simply have to be patient. One way to make it faster is drink a large amount of water with everything you have - I know that it works from personal experience.

For a faster change in your looks try just having the sunflower seeds and not the bacon or ham peices. And try to have fruit instead of pudding - a high sugar fruit will make you lose weight much quicker than a stodgy pudding (no matter how low fat / calorie reduced) even if they are the same calorific content. Trust me, I've tried both.

Either way you are on the right track, good luck with it!

Omg I'm not alone in disliking lettuce, and therefore I don't eat salad, but I love the croutons, bacon bits, etc. lol

While they are surely better then all the greasy stuff, I consider them more of a 'snack' kind of thing and still not the best to substitute as a meal.

yeah its better for u but there r two things wrong with ur diet. u r eating and not exercising. or at least u didnt say that u r. u need to exercise too. but the other thing that is the key to weight loss is to eat 5 or 6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. this kick starts ur metabolism. therefore u will have more energy throughout the day and u may end up actually wanting to get that exercise in

It's definitely better than the grease covered food, but weight loss is diet plus EXERCISE.

You're eating better food for your body, but you must move your muscles to use up sufficient energy to see the scale change numbers.

You can eat anything as long as you eat in moderation. You can indulge on eating fatty foods as long as you compensate and do some excercise! After all , Most of these 'greasy' food are well better tasting than what I call 'rabbit food' (salads).
